Yes UH, that was my thought as well. Not sure who I would pass them on to though. But I remember my dad and how he would have horse-traded for the coins. The older I get the more I understand that no one cares about your stuff.
I also have 5-1OZ. silver coins that I paid $25 in 1974 while in college. They have compounded at 3.4% for 45 years and trailed inflation.

They have compounded at 3.4% for 45 years and trailed inflation. For several years I tried buying gold coins regularly, of varying sizes. Am first to agree their performance vs inflation has not been inspiring . In addition to the others, I have a good quantity of 1/10 oz Eagles, and 1-oz silver, thinking they'd be life-savers for little food or fuel purchases should the worst occur when I'm no longer around for my wife or daughter. If little else, physical gold squirreled discreetly away should show good worth when your death taxes are assessed. Don't expect or hope to ever get benefit from the cache -- but may be a tangible reminder to my heirs that I cared for them. That spare tire in your trunk is a terrible investment until you need it.

GLD & SLV seem to be finally reacting to a weak USD. It's a little early to make a call, but my NEM is also rocking today. Perhaps I'll do something goofy tomorrow.
Gold closed above all major resistance levels today. Silver also closed up but the chart is a little cloudy at this time. With the USD dropping below trendline support I expect the metals and other commodities to begin their long awaited run.

I would like to add to the above post that the gold and silver miners etfs are rising rapidly today while the GSCI industrial metals index is falling. Normally they are closely correlated. My interpretation of todays trading activity is that traders are more concerned about inflation debasing the USD than they are about higher interest rates supporting the value of the USD.

Uncle Harley and others, Are you still looking at NEM? It’s done well since I bought a 1% position in early November 2021. Win

SILJ is also doing well for me. I have some cash in my IRA that I might deploy on monday to more PM stuff. I am waiting to see how the meeting goes on Monday morning.

The daily chart for $XAU, the Gold and Silver index, has confirmed a break above trendline resistance and has set a new recent high. This mornings gold and silver futures indicate that both continue to move up with gold pushing the $1900.00 level. It looks like the promised bull run in precious metals has begun.. Credable targets are $3000.00 for gold and $40.00 for silver. stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$XAU&p=D&b=3&g=0&id=p34878032368&a=416969089&listNum=86

Apparently the miners have taken the lead from bullion in the precious metals. Things should become interesting now.

I am not selling, but my resources are limited. I can't buy it all. I am currently overweight in the miners, especially silver miners, and holding.

The Gold and Silver miners indexes XAU & HUI, are both up today while gold and silver bullion are down. One day in a row does not mean much but the divergence begs watching.

Both gold and silver bullion as well as the indexes HUI & XAU have all made golden crosses on their weekly charts. That is about as bullish as technical indicators get.

Putin has pegged the Ruble to the price of gold, consequently many or all Russians are buying gold with their Rubles. The price of gold remains measured in USD's so with the increased demand for gold many traders are expecting the price of gold to rise. One credable source is projecting the price of gold to rise to about $2025.00. That makes sense to me.

O K! It couldn't last forever. Silver has dropped thru its 200 dema in pre-market trading. I hesitate to say why we have the drop in price, but the chart does not look good.

Are you selling any gold or silver positions? I’m leaning towards holding mine (NEM) for the long run, more as “insurance”. Win

Silver had a nice 3% bump up for the week. Gold has probably put in a bottom of the handle on the cup w handle pattern it is building. The neckline is at 2100, about 300 points up. The USD is poised for a drop of about 5% which would give a tailwind to the precious metals and other commodities. Might even help stocks consolidate their losses.
