Added a little love to FBALX, PRGSX, ARTSX. CNRG hit my small buy order @115. BTD.

Added to PRHSX and initiated a position in ICLN on the day Growth has max correction.

Because I've never met a D I didn't want to B, I added very little to FBALX, VWILX, ARTSX and SCHD. If I didn't have an income stream coming in I'd probably sit on my hands....Who am I kidding?..I can't help myself.

Sold about half my PDO at a small loss. Didn't like the performance and was disappointed in the small dividend relative to other PIMCO offerings. Made a small buy in ICLN since it is now quite a bit below my last foray into and out of it. Some guys just can't resist a falling knife.

For the first time ever, I purchased a pinky finger worth of QQQ as they were trading at a price near thanksgiving 2020... and added a spoonful of TLT. How could you pass this up? Sprinkled some dust into Fidelity Disruptors fund as well. Yummy day for nibbling at the edges...

Dribbled a smidgen into FICDX just before the close. Thought about adding to Growth but decided to wait out the rout; it may not be over.

Forgot to include - also added to VHCAX. Annual limit for VHCAX is $25K so I usually add on dips throughout the year.

Adding small love to FISMX, ARTSX and CNRG.(CNRG I'm adding small amounts on drops of 5% or more. I have no idea how much lower it will go after it's crazy rise, but I believe in the narrative that it's the future.

Mid-day market reversal looks like possible support, triggering short term sell signal on hedging, so I took gains on half my HDGE. Will ride with RWM over the weekend and sell if Monday appears bullish. I don't mind a small loss if market continues to rally. I want to buy precious metals but PM behavior is indecipherable. Petroleum-related positions continue doing well. Bought very small position in RSM, less than1% of PV. Has PDO found support?

Added to SCHD & VTI.

PDO resumes slide, surf. Good for you. Sold 1/3 of my remaining position.
For div cap, bought BXMX and VVR.
Holding 4% of port value in hedges is becoming painful. Technical indicator efficacy seems to be breaking down amid back-and-forth chart whiplash movement. Decades of experience persuade me that such a market, in so volatile a search for direction will soon find one. Ah, but where?
R48: have you tried to reach me?

R, I've been quite busy...thru this week. Perhaps next week. I trust I will find your phone number. Or if you have my #, call me thursday or fri. to set lunch date.
BTW does anyone know that, re PDO, the recent dividend rate announced is for a fully invested portfolio? This is a startup, new fund...is all cash invested so far??
TIA

Traded some PCI (at wide premium) for some FISMX and VWAIX. CEFs work for me when I buy at discount hold and collect divs and sell at premium. That cycle ALWAYS happens. Maybe not the most elegant system but pretty simple.

Putting some cash to work for div cap. Returned to smallish positions , or added to QYLD VTA KIO NRGX. Based on recent reading here and elsewhere, bought new positions in GGT (thanks, Eddy) and JPC. China & EM remain ugly while segments of the US market seem "too easy" and gold a puzzlement. Most charts appear too volatile to be predictive of much anything. NRGX has been the happy exception. Dividend capture can't last for very long, but it's still one of the few games that works for me.

Sold ICLN after 5 day holding period for a 5% profit. Also sold remaining QQQ. Looking for something with better divvys and less volatility.

For div cap. took gains on 1/3 my position in NRGX and rolled it over into more USOI. Speculative. The good days just keep coming. Took loss dumping 1/3 of my existing hedges. Like walking with a brick tied to one ankle. I know I'll regret lightening hedges some day -- just not today.

Several days ago sold some MATFX. Tired of watching it go down - should have done this sooner but I got much of the upside. Trying to keep up foreign I bought Fidelity Canada. Also added to American Funds Balanced & VTI. Bought a bit more SCHD in taxable.

Div Cap routine continues: In taxable account, sold KIO for a wash, but it went XD today. Rolled it over into RA. In IRA, realized a nice gain on CPZ (plus the XD) which I bought only a few days ago. Bought FOF in its place. Also in IRA, have a heart-warming gain in PBFX. (Too good to be true?) Sold 40% of position.

I sold 100%, full amount, of IVWIX, IVA Worldwide Fund. Reason: Fund is liquidating fully. See thread on this forum. Acting fast, asking questions later. Put some of proceeds to other international funds owned, to limit out-of-market exposure.

Sold remaining PCI. Trading at or near 10% premium. I'll probably be back when the CEF tree shakes again. Proceeds going to VWIAX. Smaller amounts to FISMX, PTIAX, BSV, FBALX and even EDV. I'm BTD in FI. I'm also about 10% cash. I think inside of 12 months bonds will be the cool kid again.
edit to add - the above felt so good I sold all PFN for the same reason, same redistribution.

Somebody stop me. I can't help myself. PDO continues its underperformance; sold most of my remaining position ( now just 1/5 of original buy.) Doubled my holding in ACP.
BXMX went XD this morning. Also had minimal gain; enough for a nice luncheon for two. Sold.

Picked up a few long dated treasuries... some people like pain I guess - If you can stick with it, the effective-equity analysis of 50% VFIAX [SP500], 50% VUSTX [Long Treasuries] puts it at 47.35%, or conservative-allocation/CA2 30-50%. PV Run

PV RunI hold US Agg as the primary bond ballast in my index portion of the portfolio. However, I accumulate LT treasuries when the market appears to be throwing the baby with the bathwater out. So, LT is only a hedge against the rising markets for me.

In which brokerage are you able to sell stocks-CEFs and buy Mutual funds the same day (different settlement dates)? Is it in an IRA or taxable account with margin? I am not questioning your ability - just want to know the info so I can try the same.

Hi anitya , I do this at Vanguard where I sold the CEFs and bot VWIAX (in IRA). When I sold the CEFs the $ was immediately available, the MF exchange is at COB today. Some of the other transactions were at Fidelity where I have a cash balance, so it wasn't a direct transfer of money, just an effective one.

Normally, cash available for trade/withdrawal from CEF sale would be available T+2, and not available for T+1 purchase. I have gotten into this trap at Schwab by mistake - Position screen would show cash, and as I have margin a/c, no alert would be issued on trade, but the next day I would see a margin balance and then a 1-day interest hit. I don't have VG Brokerage, and you may also be their very special customer.

Depending on interpretation of 'special', VG brokerage may be giving me some latitude
Edit to add - As I expected, both trades went through and were reflected in today's "recent activity". No interest hit that I can detect. (3/12/21)
