Report your trades here, and don't forget the "why". Keep follow-up questions and answers brief. Longer discussions should take place in a separate thread.
Okay, I'll break the ice. Since the market is closed and I'm contemplating some EOY changes, here goes: 1. I opened a foothold in PRGSX. I think I'll move my TRBCX (small position) to PRGSX. Reasoning is that it maintains growth bias but increases int. holdings. I already hold positions in AAPL, MSFT, AMZN thus some redundancy with TRBCX. I also hold a rather large position in PRWAX. This would trigger a smallish Cap Gain. 2. Considering selling my position in HON and buying VGWAX. (don't ask me how I remember the ticker). This would maintain value bias with more int. I plan on VGWAX to be a core holding. It will trigger a bigger Cap Gain as HON is up ~40% since my purchase in the spring/summer. With my tax loss selling (some of which very inelegant) in the spring I'll be just about even with some small gains. - Slightly OT, but since there is some white space - I'm mostly a fund buyer. The only reason I hold individual equities are; expected outsized growth possibilities, dividend income, opportunistic timing. HON has fulfilled that already and no longer provides much income relative to share price. JPM is in the same boat but I'll continue to hold it a while. I don't really have a desire to keep adding to them currently. Does this seem reasonably sound? I'm not really into adding more equities now but am okay readjusting a few things w/o adding more holdings.

I've done the same as you with regard to #1. The US market has outperformed foreign markets for 15 years. That might go on forever, but now there is an even greater-than-usual disparity in valuations as well as definite downward forces acting on the dollar. Foreign stocks outperformed US stocks in November. Is this the beginning of a reversion? Who knows, but I'm decreasing my US : International ratio, which currently stands at around 2:1. I have a trade planned for Monday which I will report. Individual stocks: I am also a mainly-fund owner who owns a small number of individual stocks. There's a different story behind each one .... and good topic for a separate discussion one day: (1) why do fund buyers dabble in specific stocks, and (2) have their stocks outperformed or underperformed their funds? (R48 is a fund owner who makes a point never to buy individual stocks.) (Sorry I am setting a bad example for the BSW thread!)

Buying FISMX (Fido International Small Cap) on Monday. Splitting the intended position into 3-4 buys this week. Funds coming from FXNAX, a position I want to deplete. (I am concerned about the miniscule yield of I/T Bond and "Total Bond" funds like FXNAX. It seems to indicate very little upside in NAV, very little income, and possibly significant downside risk. I have already sold all my BIV.) Whys: - FISMX is unusual in being a SCB/SCV fund, while most Foreign SC funds are growth (which was the right place to be for the last decade). Its performance has been good; occasionally excellent. Compare to the logical benchmark index fund VSS and other indices here.
- If Covid is brought under control with vaccines in 2021, small caps -- especially in the value/blend categories -- could rally all around the world.

I am initiating a position in TCELX. This year, I am looking to increase my exposure to Chinese equities. Another fund I am considering adding to is MCDFX.

As per my intentions above:
1. I moved my TRBCX (small position) to PRGSX. Why - it maintains growth bias but increases int. holdings. I already hold positions in AAPL, MSFT, AMZN thus some redundancy with TRBCX, (less so with PRGSX). I also hold a rather large position in PRWAX. This would trigger a smallish Cap Gain.
2. Sold HON and buying VGWAX. This maintains value bias with more int. I plan on VGWAX to be a core holding. It will trigger a bigger Cap Gain as HON is up ~40% since my purchase in the spring/summer. With my tax loss selling (some of which very inelegant) in the spring I'll be just about even with some small gains.
3. With a few left over $$ added to VWIGX. Why- building that position on any dips.

This morning I sold my position in KMI because sentiment is extremely high signaling a top and the new strain of Covid seems to have put many investors into a panic mode. I am currently at 25% cash.

At eod:
Selling DODGX - LCV's time doesn't appear to be here yet. Adding to MPEGX - Tech continues to shine and smallish companies appear to have tailwinds (both IWM and IWN are doing quite well).

Making a small add to FHKCX on today's drop in China (-1.86%) and HK (-0.71%). I've been dribbling money here for a few weeks and plan to continue doing so for the indefinite future. More detailed thoughts are posted on the International Investing board. Funds coming from FXNAX (see previous post for thinking about that).

I continued to add to YIIN (DRX DLY FTSE CHINA BULL 3X). I know it is not likely a good idea to have 3X but I like to bet the good side of China.

Traded some PIMIX for VWIAX in IRA. Why - I'm holding too much PIMIX bot in May. With left over $ threw some at MATFX. Why - Small dip.

Added a bit to PSCH (Invesco Small Cap Healthcare); my strongest performed the last few months. Still looking at trying to increase foreign holdings too.

I just joined the forums. Glad to see all of you here.
Eliminated entire VMVFX from two retirement accounts and invested the amount into VTRIX and VEIPX believing that investing in Value is relatively better and lack of Value funds in my Portfolio

Sprinkled a bit of salt on EDV's drop, no doubt due to a distribution. Why - I've been adding more to equities so a small faux hedge in EDV makes me feel better.

Adding another bit to FHKCX today, on the slight down day for the SSE (-0.7%) and some negative news about BABA. (Funds coming from FXNAX as mentioned above.)
Remember the stock market closes at 1:00 PM today.

Added to MATFX and VWIGX on neg news on China. Looks like big dip on BABA and TENCENT. See my post from Barron's. Why - underweight foreign and especially China.

Do we have to wait until Monday to see today’s market reflected in most of the funds’ NAV?

Just got an EM from chang inviting me to join, so here I am newly joined on Christmas Eve. Pimco CEFs seem to be tiring, so I have taken gains on mosrt of my PDI. Still hold PCI. Otherwise taking year-end gains in the IRA where ever they occur. A couple of months ago I opened a position in SLVO for the income and have added to it monthly, though I stress it's for trading, not for investing. I believe MLP CEFs may be offering an oppty and I have been rotating among the monthly payers for div cap. Doing the same in preferred CEFs. Holding my trigger finger above RWM, prepared to move strongly into the hedge if I can get a technical buy signal. May sell naked OTM puts on NEM and on TGP, though. That's about it. Merry Christmas to all the old crew who stumble across this post. All the best. --richardsok

Selling more than usual since we are helping our daughter buy a new house and doing some tax management.
We are selling XOM, PAYX, and IBM since all three have a tax loss. I would normally only sell XOM as it is down so much. The other two also have a small tax loss to book. We are also rolling over my traditional IRA to my ROTH.

Selling: FSPGX (only 6% of position). Why: plan to reduce US equity by several % over the next 10 days or so. Valuations frothy, plus shifting some US equity exposure to foreign. [Individual Acct]
Selling / Buying: Selling FXNAX to buy a little more FHKCX (same story as above). I'm at about 1/4 of the FHKCX and 3/4 of the FISMX that I want. Funds will continue to come from FXNAX. I don't believe the Chinese government will send BABA up the Yangtze without a paddle. [Trad IRA]

Had some $$ from a residency come in. This was $$ I thought was lost due to CV19. I put it all in VWIGX which will put me in Admiral shares tomorrow morning. Why - increasing int. and Asia-heavy. Next up may be VSS or TCELX.

About a month ago I sold my remaining shares of PDI as the risk-reward is not that attractive IMO (considering I invest for TR, not income). The plan was to invest the money right away into SCHD...I hesitated and only bought a small portion waiting for the proverbial better entry point...
All that to say that now I have been slowly adding to SCHD little by little. Added today on relative weakness.
Best,
JC

Why: same as noted above.

Bought back my position in KMI this morning. The primary reason was because the correction in the stock price appears to be over. Additional reasons are that the price of oil and gas appear to be moving up, the USD is trending down, and KMI's earnings report and dividend should be out soon. Earnings should be improving.
