Thoughts? Not sure why this one seems to sail under the radar. Its record is terrific. Duration < 1 year, distribution yield around 3%, and a so-so expense ratio. I wonder if this isn't a better vehicle for "safe" cash storage than some of the others I have been using / considering. www.morningstar.com/funds/xnas/pfiix/performance

I wouldn't claim that these are the same kind of investment, but the last two look pretty good. I note especially the dip the first two experienced from mid-Feb to April and the divergence of the first two (negative) in comparison to the last two (positive) in October so far. Of the four listed, I personally prefer the looks of the SAMBX chart.
Otoh...
What you see depends on the time frame...

Thanks Raq. I have been unsuccessful with FR/BL funds in the past, and they definitely do not fit the bill for me. Between PFIIX and PIMIX, I would easily take PFIIX.

I find it...interesting...that EVERYTHING took a dive in March of 2020. If we therefore take that as an extreme outlier and look past it as being an anomaly, then the first chart takes on more importance and leads us to a different conclusion; at least I think it does. I've been reluctant to do much with 'bonds', but this chart has me thinking. Maybe some of the cash I have sitting should GO there; given that I'm being more cautious now with equities? Food for thought...

Not to go too far off the topic, but MWFLX does better than SAMBX per Backtest. It has much lower volatility. Been looking at it.

Well this didn’t hold up very well with rate increases. I have looked at other “low duration” funds and they just don’t seem to work. PFIIX has some equity holdings and maybe that hurt YTD performance.
