Agree, but during high inflation your are giving up a bit of return.

I bought some in 2001 - one thing I can thank the Bogleheads for. I converted to electronic/Treasury Direct years ago - mostly so I could give up my safe deposit box. I certainly won't be cashing in until 2031 or until my income goes down significantly.

marg, electronic Savings Bonds can be sold in any amount. Limitation of full redemption of individual face value Savings Bonds was only for the paper format.

I have ibonds that I hardly check, due to this thread I decided to check and WHOW. I have almost 100,000 dollars in it. I bought all in early 2000 and did not even realize I have so much, it almost doubled. Party time.. LOL

Ones I track from 07/2000 have more than quadrupled in value.
