Hi Everyone,
I do not post much but do read this site often. Under the Investment Products section many different investment funds are represented. I was wondering if a new section to discuss Business Development Companies (BDC's) would be a welcomed addition. I am recently new to this type of investment and would certainly like to hear other's thoughts on them.

I don't think a new board is needed for BDCs within the "Investment Products" category, as there hasn't been very much discussion. However, I'm moving this post to the PDM board, where it might be better than under Off-Topic.
If there is substantial interest that cannot be accommodated in this thread, we can of course consider adding a new board.

chang , BDCs may be considered a special type of CEFs that mostly make with loans to small businesses/companies, but may invest some in their equities too. They are too small and risky to tap venture-capital (VC) or the bond market or bank loans. For BDC holders, they may be almost like holding leveraged CEFs. So, CEFs (or, Alternatives) may be a better Board for it than PDM.

Hi guys. FWIW. PBDC, an etf offered by Putman, has a distribution yield of 10.48% and seems to have offered good top line returns along with an outsized distribution. It is one that I have had my eye on but have yet to put any money on it. My major concern is the high fees associated with this etf. Old_Skeet

I've been watching PDBC along with BCI and COMB. All three share something interesting: last December they paid a massive distribution, and fund prices utterly tanked on XD -- but what is notable is that none of them ever recovered. Now all three are still hovering around their lower XD price with a new annual XD looming ahead. Question: Do they .... A) Pay a new big disty in December and drop again even lower.... and stay there? (More destructive ROC.) B) Price drops on XD, but recovers during 2024. If so, what will have changed from 2023 to 2024? C) Pay a much smaller disty in Dec 2023?. I too have been watching but not buying
