Most brokerages only give trade date with dates and profits and loss. I am trying to determine Volume (how many trades each day or average per day), Lets say I did 1000 trades in a year and there are 252 Trading days so that comes to 4 Trades /day. Frequency: e.g. Executes trades lets say 200 days out of 252 trading days, so that is almost 80% frequency of trading. Holding periods (What is average holding period, From day I opened a trade to close a trade) At most brokerages there are 2 options of Trade data. Trade history and 1099
1. One can import trade history into Xcel but it only tells either Buy or Sell of trades so I guess it only gives you Volume of Trades and perhaps Frequency as well (not sure how Xcel can tell).
Lots of people file taxes as Traders so I am sure there is some easy way to figure this out.
2. 1099 gives you both Buy and Sell as one line so over profit / loss is determined.
Can one import 1099 into Xcel from Fidelity?
Does any one knows how to figure out Frequency and Holding period of trades. Any software either paid or free version. Perhaps you need to program Xcel it.
I can get trade data from my brokerage into Microsoft Excel and then how to analyze Frequency and Holding period of Trades from there? Any suggestion for software?
