I think there is a saying in the market - Go Away in May …
I've noticed that every year it's coming a little earlier, do you think it's going to become, go away in April?

Nope. Since the economy is reasonably strong I expect the qtrly earnings reports to be positive. That should keep the market going up until may or probably beyond.

Years back, before I retired, I followed the Sell in May and Come Back After Labor Day Strategy and sold off my equity spiff position as May approached. Come September I would open another spiff position and average in through the third and fourth quarters. And, repeat.
Since retirement about 10 years ago I moved away from the strategy.

johnsmith , Well new markets are supposed to start in November after the poor months of September and October. The end of each market seems to end by May. I shuffle the CEF deck about the end of March and October. I tweak the equity section after I file this years taxes which was today. Personally I don’t read, check or watch anything as much as possible from mid April to October. In regards to your OP I quit in mid April by design. As Cramer says “there’s always a bull market somewhere and he’s going to help you find it” so I miss a few. Year round though DCA and reinvestment does work for us and gives us an opportunity to participate in a few market sales which are the most important at this point while we’re away spending.

Hi Old Skeet
Around May of 2020 I read a tip from someone on ORI. I believe it was from you. As an insurance company you felt they held good investments and were shielded from catastrophic weather related payouts. In two years I received two special dividends, regular dividends and a 45% total return. I just wanted to say thank you. An example of buy in May.

"April is the cruellest month..."? Stats say that April is positive 78% of the time if 1Q was positive. Macro view says that the Fed is on pause now.. which means it is good news for the market.
