I moved money that had been in a savings account in a big bank - earning almost nothing - into my brokerage where it is earning 3.5%. Last week, my bank offered a 7 month CD with an APR of 4.15%, so I put 25K into that. But I notice that if I bought stock in my bank (USB) I'd earn 5.48%.
Now I normally don't buy banks. I do own stock in one Canadian bank, but that is all.
I'd be interested in your thoughts about this.

4 to 6 month US Treasuries are paying 4.70%. Brokered CDs are yielding 5.30% for 7 months at Vanguard

kathiel , Kat if you’re talking about bank stocks Canada is the way to go, heh. If you’re talking about what to do with cash go with Fishingrod. We keep about 10% of our cash in a brokerage account and LTC money in VWAHX. You would be risking the value of USB stock down the line for 1.5%? more taxable interest. No way Jose, bad move. I haven’t had a bank account though since I wore britches and a pork pie hat.

Thanks for your comments, fishingrod, and steelpony10. I was thinking about brokered CDs, but I hadn't seen any at 5.3%

Kathiel As was already mentioned it is no risk vs some risk with CD's vs Bank Stock. A few brokerages pay about 4.5% on moneymarkets currently. I use Fidelity and they offer many choices in CD's. Watch for callable vs call protected. I scroll through a hundred CD's at fildelity every day and sometimes you get white line fever and miss important details.
