Hi guys. I have a compass of sorts that follows the main asset classes that I am invested in. This for me is known as the Dog Track as a hobby and side gig years back I enjoyed spending time at the track. To follow the main asset classes that I am invested in I have a matrix that tracks them. The lead pack is made up of the win, place and show assets. This past week the lead pack consisted of IJR, MDY and IEV. My spiff position is in the small cap position at double weight. This past week it moved into first place followed by mid caps close in second place. And, coming in third was Greater Europe. Thus I had some good upside movement in the growth area of my portfolio as all of these assets have a good weighting in this area. I will be posting weekly the win, place, and show results in my barometer report.

Thanks to a PM input from a poster, I finished reviewing the M* Analyst writeup for AVUV.
A very interesting fund re its selecting stocks from among the small cap indices. Note that the portfolio trades at cheaper valuations than the small-value Morningstar Category benchmark (the Russell 2000 Value Index) and sported a better return on invested capital (a measure of profitability) than 97% of its small-value peers as of May 2023.
AVUV distinctly does not invest in regulated Utilities and REITs, so it culls them from the starting index list. Currently this means it owns a higher percent in small cap Energy companies. Energy struggling currently with decline in oil prices...but small caps are also candidates to be acquired.
I may (will likely) use AVUV for small cap additions going forward. Of course charts/technicals will play a part in such buys.

Today, added to core holding VSMAX, small caps.
Bought a starter position in AVUV, Avantis US Small Cap ETF.
Working out strategy that gets some of vsmax transitioned into top small cap funds such as AVUV.

Adding to my DGRS today. When SCs are hot they are amazing.

Well, 2023 is long in the tooth, but there is still time for small caps. Its pretty amazing to me how stubborn the $197 level is being for IWM. link

I have not personally invested this year in them, but I have encouraged others younger and more adventurous into VO and VXF, mid cap and completion index, long term. Both are showing much promise, especially VXF, completion index, holding most mid and small cap stocks below the SP500 index.

Avuv seems to be giving back some of its recent gains.

Unfortunately, it's been giving them back for a while now! It looks like the earlier SC tailwinds have abated!
