Tired of having to type "@membername" when you want to tag someone? I have added a new feature. When you reply to a post (either normal reply or "Quick Reply") you will see a row of "Quick Tag" buttons listing everyone who has posted in that thread. Hopefully this will be a timesaver, and also eliminate typos when tagging.

chang, is there a way to show quick tags when we quote someone's post and then want to respond?

chang , is there a way to show quick tags when we quote someone's post and then want to respond? Quick tags do appear when you use the Quote button or the " Quote highlighted text" feature.

YBB - I chose "Quote" to type this response and I do not see the quick tags... I must be doing something wrong. On my laptop, I only see quick tags in quick reply window at the bottom.

My testing bears out what yogi said: they show up with any "Reply" or "Quick Reply". I don't know why you're not seeing them.

This response is being sent via a "Quote" of your message.. and I do not see QTs. Oh well... no big deal.

QTs do show up at the top of that "Quote" section above the formatting tool bar... did not pay attention. Sorry for the confusion.

chang , steadyeddy , Quick Reply window [itself a plugin] plays an important role in several plugins including Quote button, Quote highlighted text, Quick Tags, etc. So, these features work best within the threads that show Quick Reply window. I tend to use Recent Posts view. As that doesn't have a Quick Reply window at the bottom, some of the above features don't work properly then. Example 1. Using Quote from Recent Posts doesn't show Quick Tags. Example 2. Using Quote highlighted text from Recent Posts doesn't do anything [ chang , remember that we discussed this before]. etc My guess is that steadyeddy is trying from Recent Posts, not from within the Thread. If one uses Recent Threads, then one has to go into the thread, and then the problem is not seen.

Reminder about quick tags. I see some folks typing @..... and if they make a spelling error then the hypertag doesn't work. The quick tag is very convenient for users who have already posted in a thread. For other users, just click the "User Link" icon (it's the 5th one from the left or the right on the row of icons directly above the post you are writing). That will open a window for you to enter the user's name: just type the first couple of letters and it will find the name for you.

Note on etiquette - some posters tag “All”, which inserts a quick tag for everyone who has posted in a thread. That’s actually kind of annoying. Can I suggest that quick tags be used when you really want to tag someone in particular. They’re just a time-saving device. Shotgun tagging everyone isn’t really useful.

Tagging ALL is also unnecessary as all who posted on the thread get update notifications anyway.
