My portfolio is about 50% cash. So, I've been shopping around and have been buying 3 month treasuries. A little tricking figure out their exact annualized yield, but I'm coming up with some where over 4.15% (it maybe closer to 4.3%).
Anyhow, when I add in distributions from other funds (PDO, PDI, BTW and VFMFX) I am coming up with an overall portfolio yield of 4.73%.
I also own a few stocks (about 17% of total Port) with none or no meaningful dividends. In the past, I've been focused on overall return and didn't pay much attention to portfolio yield. However, I must admit that 4.73% is sweet.
Of course, I know that such good times won't last for very long with short term treasuries... Still curious to know if others have calculated or have a sense for their overall portfolio yield?

Fearchar , Sure, 6.1% presently due to lower overall values. Usually it had fluctuated between 5-6% under normal conditions. Since we’ve added 20% more cash flow at these sale prices this year and will continue as long as possible I expect this to at least stay steady for awhile. About 45% CEF’s, 25% equities and munis each, the rest is accumulating excess cash to current needs. As you know this is our primary focus with anything Mr. Market provides as secondary income.
