‘#RIPTwitter’ trends as users await site’s potential collapse.
- After reports of mass resignations at Twitter on Thursday evening, users of the social media site eulogized the application — sending hashtags like #RIPTwitter and #GoodbyeTwitter to the top of Twitter’s What’s Happening section.
- The resignations leave the operability of Twitter in serious jeopardy, the Washington Post explained Thursday. Even before Thursday’s exodus, Musk had already triggered thousands of layoffs. Some operational divisions had already been reduced to single digits — for a website which hosted about 238 million daily active users, according to the company in October.

No big loss from my standpoint. Never used it. Elon is a piece of work with regards to management "style" if you can even call it that.

Musk aside, wasn't Schumpeter's gale already striking against Twitter's censorship and deplatforming? Gab, GETTR, Parler, etc popped up.
Amid YouTube's censorship, Rumble, Bitchute, Odysee, etc sprang up.

I know that it became a private company. He can do whatever he wants to.
Besides, I used Facebook for a week and got out, when someone from Hong Kong wanted me to be friends with me. I cannot go back into this long story. I do not use WhatsApp either, after I tried for a few months because a lot of people from India started calling me often. It became a big nuisance. My son also does not use WhatsApp. I have unlimited international calling, but nobody from India calls me. They all call my wife using WhatsApp.

My wife's on FB just to keep track of family/friends but not much else than stalking versus communicating via their platform. For that, we use texting which doesn't expose you to the advertising sellout of your information via FB or any other social media. I refuse to sell my soul to anyone who wants to exploit us in some way or another. Back to business, but terrible management and loss of personal wealth for the Musker as well as those of his former employees. Stupid all around.

From what I have read it seems that Twitter had been losing money. That it was overstaffed and its productivity was the lowest in the industry. I know its outrageous to think that workers should actually come to work and do something instead of complaining that they no longer get a free lunch.
Without getting into politics I see nothing wrong with trying to make Twitter profitable.

It's good to run businesses profitably, bull in a china shop methodology is debatable. Of course - no one has to work for someone either, they can choose to go and work for anyone else. Unless of course you are Steve Jobs, Google, Adobe and other MoU (masters of the universe); then you just collude to reduce employee salaries and prevent them from working at other companies duckduckgo.com/?q=steve+jobs+adobe+agreement+to+not+poach+employees&atb=v340-1&ia=web

Elon Musk created two of the world's greatest, most innovative companies on the planet! Yes, he works long hours and expects the staff to do the same.
You don't like to work with total passion? Then don't work at Tesla or SpaceX. No one is forcing people to work there.
Twitter was a mess and I'm hopeful that Musk can clean it up. Was it smart to spend $40B+ on the company? Maybe not. But, if anyone can fix things, it's Musk.
First step: clean out the stables.

Businesses underestimate the power of engineers. They can easily “bomb” the websites, making it inaccessible and, at the same time, making them ignorant of these things. These bombs are not physical. They can use VPN and hit it as if it is from somewhere in Russia or North Korea. In fact, some guy tried to hack my Amazon and Chase accounts (my Retirement account also) using some address in South Carolina in the middle of the night. I knew right then that somebody got my user credentials from Edge and is hitting using VPN. For that reason, my Tenn. Retirement account does not allow VPNs. The warning comes as soon as click the URL. Of course, I stopped saving my user credentials in any web browser. They are leaky.
Anyway, it seems to be happening right now to Twitter. There are many news sources everywhere on this.

Perhaps the same as a certain prof. LOL. I knew it. I also use only texts.
In fact, I have two phone lines now to get text codes for verification. So, a recent attempt by someone failed everywhere. My Credit card banks sent me only warnings last month and did not lock me out. Banks, Fidelity, and Vanguard know that I use 2FA every time to login I am yet to recover one of my e-mail ids. My Cookeville Utility locked me out when I changed my phone number. I called the Cookeville office and got my recent bill amount as well as account number. Please use 2FA for all. It is ok if you are locked because you can call and get help. You will not lose money. In fact, more and more credit cards want you to use a “virtual” number, not your original card number, for online shopping. I am not sure if it is safe.

Hey guys, why don't you get off of 'ol Elons back. Give his a chance. He has only owned Twitter a short time and will likely turn it around at some point. After all, Twitter was almost broke if not completely broke when he bought it. I would say that he has been pretty successful in the pass. More successful than me, (a BIG LOL), and I suspect more than most of the posters on this forum.

Musk - "New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach. Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically seek it out, which is no different from rest of Internet." New Boss - Same as Old Boss!

If anyone can save twitter, it is Elon. Also, if anyone can kill twitter, it is Elon. With Elon, outcomes are binary.

If anyone can save twitter, it is Elon. Also, if anyone can kill twitter, it is Elon. With Elon, outcomes are binary. +1. Agreed.
The only difference is this: He needs workers to do the job, specifically the engineers. A lot of them have quit, after he fired the engineers in India in a mass firing on one day (some, 7000). The writing is on the wall now. Mass quilting on Thursday followed on “hardcore” commitment. That has not gone well. He closed the offices for all this weekend. We will know more next week, how many people will show up for his personal interview on Monday.

I expect many that believe in Elon's management style will stay back and grow with him. He already recruited a whole bunch of talent from Tesla into Twitter. So, it is not a foregone conclusion that sour grape employees can somehow sabotage twitter platform. It is not hard to fortify the platform and put in super-strong security controls. For the sake of "freedom of speech" in this country I am rooting for Elon to clean up the mess. The prior CEO and their legal counsel took first amendment rights away from the public just because they could. Conservatives were suppressed. Glad that bubble has bursted.

Things must have changed. I read that he was keeping the engineering staff. A commentator on television thought his email was brilliant. Either show up ready to work or quit. People who quit cannot draw unemployment and I'm sure he is not going to give them the three-months severance pay he gave those he laid off.
P.S. I've been laid off and I didn't get even a one-week severance package.

All he has to do is hire in the Philippines and India. He will have lower overhead and fewer headaches than with the crybabies here.
Anyone thinking Twitter is a $50b experiment is crazy. Hide and watch. Musk ain’t stupid.

If there are "mass resignations" at twitter, this means Musk can call back any of the thousands already laid off, no?. And for those who do not return to work, Musk may owe them very little! And he could file with State agencies the recalls, so that unemployment pay is also not received.
