I'm seriously considering the transfer of some investments now at Vanguard to new accounts at Fidelity. These would be from a taxable account (only the VMFXX sweep fund currently), an IRA-Rollover account (stocks), and an IRA-Roth account (OEFs). These accounts are in my name solely, and starting with money approaching $1M. I've reviewed the automated transfer process detailed on the Fidelity site, and also may soon visit a near-by Fidelity office if that would help, but perhaps also any general info/advice from someone here?
1) is there a cash bonus these days from Fidelity for doing this? If so, who to contact?
2) how to get an id in the Fidelity Community forum?
3) any problems with moving cash between these accounts, such as moving RMD money from the IRA-Rollover account to the taxable account or moving money from the taxable account to my Wells Fargo checking account? Right now, all this is just a simple mouse-click for me on the Vanguard site.
3) and a very general catch-all ... any tips, techniques, good/bad experiences with the account transfer process as well as with the use of the Fidelity site?
I'm not looking for investment advice here or why I instead should be at Schwab, just advice on becoming and being a Fidelity customer. Thanks in advance!!

Since you are contemplating going into a Fidelity office soon, I would do that first. I would ask to speak with the manager about moving $1M+ from Vanguard to Fidelity. You can ask the manager for the best promotions for moving assets and be clear with the manager what other assistance you might need from Fidelity.
Membership to Fidelity Community is by invitation only. Once you finish moving the assets, I suspect you would qualify the requirements and the manager can request the invitation for you or you can request online in your account.
No problems with linking Fidelity accounts with a bank or transfers of money between them - usually the transfer is initiated at Fidelity.
Once asset transfers are completed, I would ask to enroll in Private Client Services or Active Trader Services, irrespective of whether you actively trade or not.
Client service has improved in the last six months but do not hesitate to ask to send your call to a supervisor / escalate your call.
Once you have access to Fidelity Community (one of the best moderated forums), you can post all Fidelity related questions there.

Has anyone linked their Vanguard brokerage acct to Fidelity Brokerage acct for the purpose of the reports? Since M* is removing the access to their free Portfolio Manager I am looking for an alternative... If so, any pros or cons to linking them?

Can you guys please clue me in? When you say bottom of the thread, I think you meant the OP, which is where there is a link to Fidelity. I clicked on that Fidelity link and Fidelity no longer has the third party promotions information it used to have there - may be finally somebody from business dev thought they do not have to be Mother Theresa and show promotions by other asset gatherers. To my recollection, Fidelity stopped publishing on their site their own promotions a while ago and you can always negotiate what you would like. chang 〵chang, pl let me know what I am missing as I am interested in moving assets from Vanguard to Fidelity and would like to avail any Fidelity's published promotions. Thanks.

My understanding is Fidelity will match other broker promotions, but you need to ask. I recently transferred a small taxable account from JPM to Fido, called Fido and was connected to an Account Transfer Specialist who arranged compensation for a JPM fee. That's who I would ask for.

Has anyone linked their Vanguard brokerage acct to Fidelity Brokerage acct for the purpose of the reports? Since M* is removing the access to their free Portfolio Manager I am looking for an alternative... If so, any pros or cons to linking them? I did. Then, there was a hassle, not updating, or only once per day. It has something to do with Vanguard. Besides, they started bugging me to transfer the assets. Then, I deleted the Vanguard part. I buy Quicken every year, and so, I have no problem.
In fact, I would like to move everything to Fidelity because it does not take much effort, because I can buy fractional shares on dollar-based. I do not need any incentive or handout from Fidelity. There is an office on the River North area of Chicago on the Michigan Avenue, close to our son's home there. But, my wife does not want to move from Vanguard, but I can convince her this year. Since it has been more than a year, and I got used to Fidelity, I may transfer all my three accounts to Fidelity and consolidate them with Fidelity. I have 6 different brokerage accounts, and I can consolidate them into three accounts. Who knows? I could do it later this year, after a face-to-face meeting with somebody in Chicago one day.
Add/Edit: After looking into the link provided by anitya, JPM looks good. My son starts to work for JPM next week. I can find out about that next month. Still, buying partial shares is important to me.

When I logged in my Chase Checking account (all are there), to check the money transfer to Fido, right below, there was a link stating "You can invest with JPM. Click here for details." Instead of messages on the top, they found a new way.

Follow-up on my Vanguard to Fidelity account transfer effort ... 1) If you need to speak to a Fidelity rep about this, aim at the "Investment Solutions" group 800.544.5315. My late afternoon call today was answered quickly, and the rep was pleasant, efficient, and effective in addressing a few concerns I had. And I was left with the rep's direct number if needed at some later time. 2) No-go for me on any promotional bonus, perhaps better negotiating skill or a more demanding behavior on my part would have helped. And having $1M+ to transfer likely would generate something, but Mr. Market hasn't helped of late in that regard. 3) So then I online-marched easily and quickly thru establishing three accounts (taxable, IRA-Rollover, IRA-Roth) and initiated transfers of some or all of the Vanguard assets in each. I also did various support actions like a name-change, linking a checking account, naming beneficiaries, etc, etc .... all this was logical on the computer screen and without a hassle. 4) Fidelity says for me to expect seven days for the transfers to complete. If all goes OK, there is no reason to post further here. 5) I have been comfortable with my initial use of the Fidelity online site. It all feels more professional to me than does the Vanguard online site. 6) After I get some money there, I'll see about a Community Forum invite. A search on this subject supplies details on how to make this happen.

Have gotten comfortable in using the Fido site, and am not lacking for anything I need. Poked around a bit and found how to online-join the Fido Community forum, as my one attempt first to call a rep about this was fruitless. Only should have done one thing differently .... first convert all OEFs and CEFs in the Vanguard IRA accounts to cash before the transfer. Think this might have saved a day or two of transfer time, and also I then would be seeing an accurate basis on the Fido side as I rebuild the funds. And that the market was declining while this transfer was happening would be a bonus. --- Frank

I always thought of Fidelity as a growth shop. All fidelity growth funds have fallen off the list this year.
