These complaints about FD's lack of detail and not posting trades in real time have been the off topic of many threads on different forums over the years. I've never understood why it matters. I'm just glad I'm not held to the same scrutiny. I suppose the reason I am not is because no one considers me as someone that might actually provide actionable input. That's OK, but I point this out as an indication that FD probably is held in that regard by some of us. Maybe I just use his information differently than others here. One of the reasons I asked for real trades, is the constant lecturing as to how anyone else's system is deficient to this one. You do not do that. If you are going to make that claim, say anything but an index is subpar - KISS - then back it up. That's all. Now we have switching funds, lots of trades, and if I missed a near real time trade - then I missed it. FD hounded me for a year over my posts - he should be able to deal. I see that is not the case, so will leave his posts alone. Hope he returns the favor.

Please don’t insult other posters on the forum. We all know how that ends. Just about anything goes here, except personal snipes. Try sending a PM if you really have an interpersonal issue and want some information or a resolution.
Open forum vents about other posters — please refrain (will be deleted).

@sara, I get the history you shared, and respect it. I usually don't weigh in on these exchanges, knowing there is probably a good bit I don't know, and differing perspectives than my own. If my post came across as siding against you, it was not my intention.

Not a problem.

anitya, archer, FD1000, I agree with Anitya and Archer. I have followed a lot of posters on this and other boards for many years going back to the good old M* days. I have learned so much from so many posters on the boards. I do listen in silence when things seem to get personal between posters as Anitya stated. I value all poster's opinions and personally think that FD adds value as do all participating on these boards. As Anitya said, "I would like him to continue to make posts like that". JMHO

Sara,
I observed that many on M* and other forums including this one had issues and still might have issues with the style of FD1000 posting, which is occasionally condescending. However, most of us got used to his posts including posting trades after the fact keeping in mind valuable information he posts.
I could not see what he posted yesterday, which seems to be interesting as per Anitya. Can someone share it with me, if you captured it? :-)

I made a suggestion/request. I won't again.

@sara - "One of the reasons I asked for real trades, is the constant lecturing as to how anyone else's system is deficient to this one. You do not do that. If you are going to make that claim, say anything but an index is subpar - KISS - then back it up. That's all." [Bold added.]
I agree but I would rather that the text I bolded and condescending comments do not happen. Everybody's system works for them or they would seek a better one but we can never give somebody something they are not seeking - so, why bother voluntarily or in public tell them their system is deficient as if life is not difficult enough.
I was one of the first members of this forum. Old timers know this forum lost many knowledgeable posters (who also happen to be good humans) because they felt slighted / disrespected. I hope posters make an effort to show they are empathetic, nurturing, and constructive in their posts.
@sara, I did not think you were disrespectful in your post - I volunteered to interject only to get the forum back on track, and my post was not directed at any one poster. I will fade away back into the background and leave you posters to enjoy each others' company.

It's easy to misunderstand someone in writing, easier than face-to-face. Sometimes I read FD... Mostly, all the charts and statistics just make me want to move on. Let's put this one to bed, maybe? i just find him mostly too self-righteous and he likes to get in the last word. Like my first wife. I've mentioned that somewhere else in these threads. Ok. To read or not to read? Depends on my mood. Other contributors just sound more interesting to me, and so I gravitate to them, instead. FD has committed no crime. Pretend it's Hyde Park Speakers' Corner, and let him say what he wants. Nothing is keeping anyone else there to hear him.... www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/hyde-park/things-to-see-and-do/speakers-corner

Looking again where to be for a generic portfolio with limited trading? VALUE funds (80-90%) + a much smaller % in commodities or close to it, such as Vanguard Global Capital Cycles Fund Investor Shares (VGPMX), see OP. Pretty much similar to my first post.

Most of the funds I mentioned in my OP continue to do well, see chart. Value rules YTD(see how VUG=growth is down), it can be as simple as VTV if you are into indexes or see the funds below. Basically, 2 months without a change. Josh Brown, one of my favorites, with another sensible approach ( link). Attachments:

Pay wall. Isn't that link just saying it is best to be contrarian?
