Anybody else buy or add to UL today? I did not. I looked at why it sank some 15%. It looks like they might overpay for some glaxo lines of business. Lot of unknowns.

@slooow, obviously, you and the market are thinking alike. I looked at GSK turning down UL's offer and wondered what the business was really worth to UL. I think there would be some synergies for UL to obtaining the consumer health business from GSK. It's not clear to me whether UL would be overpaying...

I have not changed anything. I bought with my 12/2021 dividends earlier this month. Probably should have waited until now. I'm just "staying the course" and not letting this "noise" bother me too much.

Yes, UL is one of my steadies. On reinvestment. If they get in a huge debt mess - let's talk. I hold GIS which everyone left for dead when it bought Blue Buffalo As I recall. Was a great entry point. Still some more than normal risk to start a position now.

Very conservatively positioned. Currently at 42% cash, 5% bear hedges (DOG & SH). Largest long positions: long-held legacy preferreds, commodities and energy. Maintaining zero growth, zero tech, zero broad market. Signals remain cherry-red.
Listened to Biden's press conference. Alarmed to hear him talk about the economic price Putin would pay for an invasion, but did not hear about any deterrence. I suspect the Pacific rim and Baltic countries are watching all this with trepidation. If Germany makes good on its statement not to buy Russian energy, I imagine European equities would crash as nat gas leaps, and drags US markets along with it. Not comfortable owning stocks with outcome determined by extent of Fed aggressiveness or Putin's mood.
Secondly, I'm thinking if crypto currency continues to swoon, gold might suddenly look more attractive to the young rookies. ETHE sliding from mid-40s to 25. Yikes.

UMPQ. Umpqua Bank. Div Yield = 4.12% Morningstar rates it at the moment at a 5% discount. Pacific Northwest & Nevada. kathiel, Conagra. CAG. A 15% discount at the moment (Morningstar, again) and Div Yield at 3.52%. Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings LLC. Ticker is MIC. Trailing yield = 3.03% but Forward Yield shows 16.66%. What's up with that? Available now at a 27% discount. Morningstar, again.

win...I see that photo of the buck and cringe. You see, in my top 100 things to do in life, one is: "Bag a buck deer." (67 done to date). I have shot several does in Pennsylvania, including deer out-of-season to have venison at Penn State, but never got a buck. Was never available at hunting season. My nephew just wrote a paperback book about deer hunting at Penna camps experience, titled SKATE by Stephen Meyer. Based on real life, it is actually, pretty good. Lost/overnight, my nephew almost froze to death. At camp,we would have 20 guys/20 deer, in two days. If I get a copy I will send it to you...or google it. A pretty quick read. R48 Edit to add...from google: $10...SKATE... Skate is a classic coming-of-age story set among the hunting camps of the Pennsylvania backwoods in the late 1980s. Stef, a young man on a quest to get his first buck, meets a mysterious young woman named Skate on his journey. A thrilling adventure ensues, as Stef risks his life, determined to bring the buck in. Retired at 48, I shot that buck in 2008 on our farm here in SC, he’s in the SC record book. 5 and a 1/2 years old, 215 lbs., and net measured 128 and 7/8 on Boone and Crockett scale. Huge deer for SC, where our deer are descended from old SE island deer used to repopulate the state after they were nearly exterminated many years ago. Our tree farm is now almost overrun by deer, we try to bag at least 2-3 per year, mainly does or old bucks. We eat lots of venison, very healthy meat. I’m going to look for the book! Thanks! Win

alvinthechipmunk, thanks for the suggestions. I'll put them on my list. I had decided to buy NEM, but yesterday, it look a goodly bump up. So I'm still looking. Something funny is going on with MIC - my page from my phone shows no dividend (which I find easier to believe than a forward yield of 16.66%). So for now, I will keep looking.

www.micinc.com/about/news/2021/mic-reports-third-quarter-2021-financial-operational-results.html"Our reported results reflect the previously announced closing of the sale of Atlantic Aviation which resulted in a distribution of $37.386817 per unit in cash on October 7, 2021," said Christopher Frost, chief executive officer of MIC. "We continue to expect the merger of the Company with an entity managed by Argo Infrastructure Partners, LP will be concluded in the first half of 2022 and result in consideration of $3.83 per unit in cash being distributed." That works out to 6.3% before trading expenses.

kathiel, I stumbled across a CEF that might interest me, HQH. Anyone know this one? It yields about 8% and holds mostly pharmas and biotechs. -------- HQH, yesterday hit a new low. ... Live Long and Prosper....

Missed the earlier post. Sorry about that.... Both HQH and HQL went to new lows again today (21.89 and 17.56 respectively). Of course we must keep in mind that the market is totally collapsing and not much is expected to rise in MktPrc's. Of course, in continuing down markets, dividend oriented investors continually do well....
Live Long and Prosper....

Any suggestions on individual health care stocks with great financials, fair value, dividend? Right now I see JNJ which is trading close to its historical p/e and a 2.5% yield. I have always bought it at 3% or better, so it it higher than I like right now.

My Mother owns some JNJ; nice pop yesterday. Morningstar has it pretty much at fair value, which I concur with. Yesterday's results were slightly below M*'s expectations, but not enough to change their valuation.
On my watchlist, MRK looks to be a better deal right now, but it is not at the BUY level.
My plans are to wait for a while.

@slooow , Healthcare. Good dividend. Financials look good, at a glance. Sanofi ADR. Ticker: SNY. Available at 10% discount to NAV, as per Morningstar. ("Any suggestions on individual health care stocks with great financials, fair value, dividend?") www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnas/sny/quote

("Any suggestions on individual health care stocks with great financials, fair value, dividend?") www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnas/sny/quoteThat's a good idea. Agree at first glance financials look good. I saw cash flow per share decreased quite a bit last year - It isn't the dividend causing that though. Looks like they sold their interest in Regeneron, so might have done something with that cash. I like it and will look at it closer. Has sure had a bump up lately. Thank you!

@slooow, I've owned SNY in the past. It's a good company. However, they will withhold foreign taxes, so only buy it in a taxable account so you can get the taxes credited when you file your income tax. I also like RHHBY, but they have the same issue.
You might consider GSK - a goodly dividend and since it's headquartered in the UK, no tax withholding if you hold it in an IRA.
Also, look at GILD - I don't own it, but it is on my watch list.

uncleharley,
I picked up some NEM at $59 a share. At that price, it pays about 3.5%

uncleharley, I picked up some NEM at $59 a share. At that price, it pays about 3.5% I'm looking at this as a diversifier. But, I haven't done well with miners in the past. Mining disasters in emerging market countries and recessions don't have good outcomes. I do have a little KL and will likely sell it in a year or so.

Now that the USD is showing some strength, the prices of many metals and their miners should begin a correction. I still hold NEM but, I may move it to my watch list, maybe.
