I've been thinking about how our group disintegrated after M* changed - everything - about how the community functioned. Thinking about that inspired me to post here, something I have rarely done. Let me encourage others to posts again as well.
When the market is chaotic, I wish for the collective wisdom of my friends here. And while the market has been chaotic, I feel almost guilty about how well my investments have done. I have continued to focus on income investing, though I have been more willing to buy stocks I think will appreciate significantly and sell them when they have appreciated "enough." Because I tend to focus on income investing, I'll often use yield to tell me when to sell a stock. When the yield gets "too low" because the price has appreciated so much, I'll sell.
I started buying older tech stocks - not the hot stocks - because they have plenty of cash flow and there are a goodly number that have nice yields. I also have found that these stocks often appreciate enough to make them worth selling rather than holding for dividends. For instance, I bought NTAP when the price was low and the dividend was relatively high. I held it for a while and sold it once it had appreciated at least 50%. I also did this with CSCO.
Many of you know I own some Apple. The biggest problem I've had with Apple is keeping it at or below 5% of my portfolio. It's a nice problem to have.
I want to wish all of my old friends a happy holiday season. And I hope for all of us the new year will bring happier times.

Nice to hear from you kathie. (I also own some CSCO.) I miss erryl, Anil, and Dr Helen; I wish they'd post here. They both signed up, but then disappeared. I'm in contact with them privately, but I can't press them to post here if they have more pressing things to do.

I wonder what happened to Oregonduck. AKA Bruce Miller. I always considered him one of the most valuable contributors to the old M* Income and Dividend forum. He also disappeared from the Seeking Alpha forums, so hope he is all right.

Kathie! I often think about you - Apple and Healthcare come to mind. Glad to see you pop up. I am still a dividend growth investor. Still have too much Apple! Bought Abbv due to you - so thank you. I still have CSCO from years ago. It has been amazing where Josh led me/us. Hope you stick around and share how you are investing. Merry Christmas! Sara aka slooow.

Hi Sara (aka Slooow). It's good to see you!
I keep selling off little slices of Apple as it hits a new high -I sold 10 shares at $181 not too long ago. And I'm still investing in pharmas - AbbieVie remains a favorite. PFE has certainly done well recently.
I sold all of my CSCO a month or so ago.
I'll try to check in here regularly.
