Unable to log in to use PM or make any changes to Profile. I tried home page www.morningstar.com/ then "My Account" (upper right corner) > drop down to "My Profile", but it directs me to a sign-up-for-a-paid subscription page. Are individual (free) M* profiles fubared / dead / gone / destructed / history?

Try this direct link for M* Discussions. This area has been completely disconnected from M* Home. Profiles at M* Home & M* Discussions are also different. community.morningstar.com/s/topic/0TO3o000001yV0JGAU/investing-forumsIf trying to login to M* Home, don't use the old saved bookmark, but use www.morningstar.com/BTW, when M* is hung, sometimes it is best to log off from everywhere & login again. But I am not doing that now just for testing sake.

chang, I am logged in at both M* Home (so M* Investor, M* Portfolio) AND M* Discussions. So, I don't see the issues. Did you change somethings recently? using VPN, etc? Other possible solutions are clearing M* cookies, restart the PC, or contact M* service#.

Yes, I logged in successfully as well. On another note, asking if M* is messed up has been rather like asking if the sun rises in the east, but you meant today specifically?!

When I deleted cookies a while ago it happened to me. I was able to use my login under Discussion and then was able to get back into Mstar.

chang, M* Home Profile - YES; I do see password Edit icon. Top says M* Investor. Are you continuing with the new M* Investor (from old M* Premium)? If not, that may be why it takes you to a subscription screen. M* Discussions Profile - YES; only editing profile text & changing some Discussions are allowed.

I'm accessing Profile from within PM (which now I can get into ... before I couldn't ... typical M* bugginess). Still no joy - it takes me straight to investor.morningstar.com/mm/sign-up. I tried two different browsers. Signed out and back in again. Nuttin'.

Well, I found a different way. I signed out, and clicked "Forgot Your Password" which sent me a password reset link. Mission accomplished -- using subterfuge and workarounds -- a classic Morningstar experience.

I like to find some generally applicable or repeatable lessons from experiences people report. Thinking about why your attempt worked: M* Discussions (hosted by Salesforce) and old M* Portfolio (hosted by M*) are still free. So, forgot password for those should work. But new M* Investor (hosted by M*) isn't free, and that signup now is also default for M* Home - why else would one login to M* Home? Most M* articles are or will remain free. So, a forgot password from M* Home or M* Investor may not work - would go to subscription screen. As free M* Portfolio will be available through 2024, your trick should continue to work until the M* Portfolio finally goes away. big-bang-investors.proboards.com/thread/2956/old-portfolio-2024There seems to be some method to this madness . Anyway, great that you found your way in.
