I was wondering, As a retiree with RMD...
if anyone had any issues or trouble transferring all Securities & MM funds from Fidelity Brokerage? All or partial Rollover IRA or taxable accounts to another brokerage in USA? In-Kind All Holdings ? What is the best way to do it? Ask the new brokerage house to transfer in Kind As Is with all cost basis and buy/Sell histories.Or I should request Fidelity to Do it or DiY Do it myself?Does Fidelity ask you to sell first all & transfer Cash or wire Xfer to a new location?
Appreciate your help/ direction / things to look out for... Thanks In Advance.

Open an empty IRA at the (new) target brokerage and give it an asset transfer form to transfer in-kind from the source brokerage (Fidelity). But some more needs to be done ahead - check if the fund classes to be transferred are supported at the target brokerage. If some things cannot be transferred in-kind, Fidelity would just sell them and transfer cash. I doubt a full transaction history would be transferred, but the balance and cost basis for each holding would be transferred. So, print out whatever records you want to save at Fidelity.

I would only add that a partial (as opposed to full) account transfer where you transfer (via submitting a transfer request form at the receiving brokerage) almost everything except a few dollars, which you can later transfer as a close out of the Fidelity account. This should allow you to copy and download any Fidelity info that did not transfer over to your satisfaction because your Fidelity account is still active.
One of the consequences of this approach could be if there is a fund that is not transferable, Fidelity may not liquidate to transfer cash but may rather keep that fund in your Fidelity account for you to deal with in the later transfer.

Thanks, YBB and Anitya for your feedback & it will definitely Help.
Schwab finally just transferred all accounts in kind with Schwab's initiated (Hijacked?) all A/C's which were previously hijacked by TDA from ScottTrade!
