I had planned to use maturing treasuries to buy new ones. The maturing ones will not be available to me until tomorrow. Normally you can place your orders up to Monday morning at 9:30 am. I logged in to see indicative rates and find the notice below.
Treasury Auction Early Close - 3 and 6 month Bills Vanguard has shortened the timeframe to submit auction orders for the 3 and 6 month US Treasury Bills. We will accept auction orders up to 5pm EST, today, May 25, 2023. Vanguard will not accept orders for the 3 and 6 month auctions after 5pm EST, today.
Have to wonder if the debt crisis is causing this? Has anyone else seen this?
Maybe the rates will be higher next week.
Edit: The auction cutoff was listed as being 9:30 am 5-30-23.

nobhead , Well by investing in U.S. paper, treasuries, you’re giving the Fed’s money to spend probably making the debt crisis worse of a problem for you. Federal debt isn’t going away any time soon either. How about some nice laddered CD’s with some FDIC backing?

Federal debt isn’t going away any time soon either. How about some nice laddered CD’s with some FDIC backing? That is exactly what I plan to do tomorrow when the funds become available. |

This is because Monday 5/29/23 is Memorial Day holiday.
So, the 13-wk and 26-wk Auctions will be on Tuesday 5/30/23 (vs typical Monday).
Vanguard probably has a day off to on Monday too.
BTW, it isn't necessary to have maturing Treasury money on hand. This T-Bill Auction on Tuesday will still settle on Thursday, 6/1/23, and so long as Treasuries are maturing on 6/1/23, money will be available in time to settle.
