I could totally see doing that for 1 year. Depends on the ship. Depends on the stateroom. On a normal cruise you hardly spend any time in your room. You generally want to be out and about --seeing things and joining in the activity. But for a YEAR?.... if you feel cramped in a tiny stateroom with just a porthole .... you're apt to wind out hanging in the casino, or boozing at the bar or gorging yourself on the "free" food. It's not impossible you could arrive home an alcoholic, a diabetic, or impoverished from gambling. At the $30k level you're probably going bargain basement all the way, maybe even in an inner room. Plus (hate to say it) on many mega-size ships your fellow travelers are not generally from the educated classes. You might discover (too late!) you're in low-life city for the duration. I was on one of those enormous ships years ago and enjoyed it only because it was just a few days and my then-wife got such a kick out of the newness of it all. Toward the end, I really hated being moved around like in a herd of cattle. I vastly preferred being on European river cruises; no more than about 200 people, and seems like every minute was wonderful.

Is that a typo in the article or are they serious about 13 square feet of living space for 2 people!!!
"Cabins run the gamut from 13 square feet “Virtual Inside” staterooms – which start at $29,999 per person per year, coming out at $179,994 for the three-year trip for two people – to Balcony Suites, which are double the size and go up to $109,999 per person. The cheapest outdoor cabin costs $36,999 per person."

Two things, you better really love the one you’re with (there’s little escape) and traveling from port to port by boat is a lifestyle. One year of any travel is awful tough for us now. I would prefer 60k + of planes, trains and rentals with a visit home to “rest”.

It's probably 13 sq meters which is about 140 SQ ft. If that's true it's pretty small. We have done 3 Caribbean cruises and the typical room was about 170-200 SQ ft. I don't feel great on a cruise and we especially don't like short stays in European cities and why we use rental cars and bed and breakfast.

Even for a 2 week Med/Carib cruise, a balcony suite is worth the dinero.
Although reality shows are extensively "produced," it seems from "Below Deck" that yacht charters may involve marginal crew (bickering, binge alcoholism, etc), so iffy value proposition.

Last year I went on AmaWaterways 7 night river cruise (Rhone) Colors of Provence from Lyon to Arles. As I recall, the capacity was about 150 people. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I would get bored to tears, and miss seeing our kids, going to our farm, etc. However, a couple of weeks, a month, etc., might be real fun. On anything longer than a week, I think paying for a balcony room is well worth the money. Win

Keying off my comment it is obvious not many read the link. It is a 3 year commitment not 1. I said 1 because that is all I would want to commit to. The total package can be split by a group and used as they agree to. Visits by family and friends is encouraged and at no cost.
I believe the "13 SF" room is an error. That is barely enough room to turn around and is only 3.6' square. 130 SF may be more accurate.

Even for a 2 week Med/Carib cruise, a balcony suite is worth the dinero. Although reality shows are extensively "produced," it seems from "Below Deck" that yacht charters may involve marginal crew (bickering, binge alcoholism, etc), so iffy value proposition. We have been in only 4 cruises, never a balcony, all had just a window, all above the water. We hardly spent any time in the cabin, and when we stay there, we never needed to watch out. As usual, between expensive and not comfortable, there is a good middle. The cruise line makes very little on us. The food is great and why we never go to paid restaurants. Drinks/alcohol are very limited. I set up all the excursions in advance with the locals who wait for us, they charge less than half and the group is very small, about 4-5 people vs the whole bus. I have been planning weeks of detailed vacations for over 40 years. I learned years ago that if I want to do it our way and style, we have to plan it...and you save a bundle too. I use experts when they are reasonable and not outrages. Example: in most well known attractions, you can use "free" walking tour for about 2-2.5 hours. You pay as you wish, which sounds OK for me, 40-50 euro PP isn't, especially not in a tour bus, we love to walk and really feel it. Example: last year we did 3 weeks in the England, Wales and Scotland for about $4K. That included rental car, gas, 3 stars hotels all included breakfast, about 15 "free" walking tours (7 in London) + several hikes that most tourists don't do. I contacted several companies that said they can planned all for me, the cheapest one was $14K, I do all the driving and only 5 tours, 4 stars hotels, no idea how can they justify another $9K+.

I've been on one Carribean cruse in my lifetime. I can live that life for a week; however, no way could I live it for a year.

That time frame is definitely too long.
ABOUT CRUSIES
The good: You get exposure to several vacation spots in a short amount of time.
The bad: There is never enough time to enjoy the port you stop at. people get sick eating the food quite often(although we never did). The medical care is limited and how long does it take to get evacuated.
Our cruise exposed us to the island of Cozumel. We loved it and went back to a resort located there five times.

That's one of the main reasons we don't use cruises in Europe which spend hours in these great places, instead of days.

Thanks, Everyone for your feedback & replies. I can start with 2 or 3 months maximum not even a year. Per link...The company is a spin-off of Miray Cruises, which currently has the MV Gemini cruising around Turkey and Greece. The company has a 30-year history in the cruise industry. The MV Gemini will be overhauled for the voyage. It has 400 cabins, with room for up to 1,074 passengers. and your Friends & Family may visit Per FaQ And because of the nature of the voyage, as well as traditional cruise ship amenities, restaurants, and entertainment, the Gemini will also be kitted out with remote working facilities. The company promises a full-scale business center complete with meeting rooms, 14 offices, a business library, and a lounge, presumably for your mid-shift coffee breaks. Access is free. There will also be a round-the-clock hospital with free medical visits. The company also floats the possibility of “additional tax benefits when working as an international resident aboard the ship.” All sightseeing tours Visits Food etc on Land are additional Cost$ Detailed thru Google Earth was an Interesting link.
