Welcome ElLobo . Nice to see old M* posters. I’m on my first Jeep (2022 Wrangler 4xe JL Unlimited) and loving it! Do you take it off-road? If not, trade it in on a Prius and stick to interstates! )

Welcome back ElLobo ! A lot of us have regathered on this forum from various places, more importantly from M* forum. Do stop by often and share your perspective. Are you still investing? Yes, but not actively. My pension and Social Security more than covers my monthly expenses, I work to keep busy (there's just so much time one can spend on travel, Grandkids, off-roading, eating, sleeping, and Facebook!) I only withdraw from my portfolio whenever I make a major purchase, like our RV and my property. I've returned full circle - 100% in VWEHX, buy and hold, reinvest all distributions. Love that 5.5% distribution yield!

Thanks for the post. Turns out there's about twnety Chuck Wolfe guys up on FB. Could you narrow down which one is our Lobo? (Most make no mention of what state they're in.) Maybe just by mentioning what he is wearing in his intro photo would do the trick. I'd like to get in touch with him. TIA Many moons ago, El Lobo stopped by my home/club in Florida and we had a long lunch together. Enjoyed it. But he was getting frustrated with some posters. Just checked...I don't have his contact info handy. R48 Twas fun to do that lunch. I made it a point to meet my M* friends in person. BruceM lived in Portland, OR and had property out on the ocean, a few hours drive from where I lived, so I stopped by a few times. My youngest son lived in southern California, as did Cliff, so we got together whenever I was out west. I drove through your neighborhood on my way to and from Pittsburgh/Palm Beach Gardens, which I no longer do.

Yeah I remember EL.. if I remember correctly he manages his sister's portfolio as well. Maybe he will come join us here? He has no interest in posting anymore, other than FB. I can talk Trump and politics on Facebook, and none of my friends there gives a hoot about investing!

I remember El Lobo very well, we discussed for years TR vs income. El Lobo went big into MLP. Then he doubled up investing in 200% MLP such as MRRL+SDYL. In march 2020, MRRL+SDYL liquidated, gone, lost everything, others such as AMZA, a typical generic MLP lost 80+%. El Lobo stopped posting. I kept his holdings from 2020. See below a chart of AMZA=InfraCap MLP ETF vs SPY. BTW, I really tried to help the guy. FD1000 , thank you for tracking EL's holdings and posting a graph - although none of us know for sure if he held on to them. Nonetheless, this post will help many investors as an educational item in illustrating the dangers of chasing yield. Appreciate it. FD tracked something, but I can assure you it wasn't my holdings!

ElLobo , So, what is the tire pressure you run in your jeep? Tweety came with 30.5 tires. I lifted it 2 inches, went to 35's, 12.5 wide, at 36 psi. I've run Toyo A/T IIs, although the IIIs are now out. I've got 75K miles on 'em and still have plenty of tread life.

ElLobo , good to hear from you again. I did check your page at Facebook after someone mentioned about it here. I am also at Facebook as yogibearbull, but it's more of the same stuff there. I recently started "Income vs Total Return" at M* with a new twist on a very old topic. It generated some good discussion; an open link is at MFO. I see that those discussions here got moved to a new thread from this Intro Thread. BTW, M* is now a closed site, so requires login to View; lots of Changes at M* .

I drove through your neighborhood on my way to and from Pittsburgh/Palm Beach Gardens, which I no longer do. ElLobo ,...Hi Chuck...thanks for the update on your life. I'm still in Florida and upstate NY (Saratoga area). It seems that when investment forums were first started, the computer was a new novelty, and the forums attracted some highly talented deep-thinkers with extensive math backgrounds, who studied things in quite detail. Especially asset allocation, and portfolio selection to support retirement. Most of those individuals have left posting (many died), and not replaced by those of similar math interests. Similarly, people like BruceM were excellent defenders of dividend-themed investing, for instance. I miss them. I primarily hang on a Fidelity Investment Forum (by invite), yet even that has declined, losing good contributors, and taken over by "chit-chat" folks who want to say what they had for breakfast each day. No real way to limit them by the moderators. wastes lots of time. I am cutting back. Interesting, the majority of the Fido posters (older) are individual stock investors as compared to Morningstar and Bogleheads Forums, posters who are primarily mutual fund investors. (Disclosure: I have not owned an individual stock for 56 years!). Anyway Chuck good to hear from you. I will be driving through the Pittsburg area this summer relocating up north for a few months...if you get back there at all. And to racqueteer , hope we can do lunch sometime along that tiny Hudson River in Poughkeepsie! R48

Yup, I was banned on M* whenever the off-topics went to early COVID and politics! Facebook has little personal finance and a lot of COVID/politics! I am very familiar with the Gordon Equation. I seem to remember you and I discussing same back on M*. For me, the bottom line consists of using the most deterministic investing style whenever discussing retirement withdrawals, TR versus yield. Going forward, portfolio yield and yield growth rate (the Gordon model) are considerably more stable and deterministic than fund NAVs!

Chuck, Below is your last M* investment portfolio, so at least FD was close.
In one of ElLobo's posts, he informed members at M* that he had sold all of his stocks, and as of 2-29-2020, his entire investment portfolio consisted of four highly leveraged products. He explained that for his "bond" portion, he used PCI and PFFL. Most of his funds went to "equity" in the form of MRRL and SDYL. MRRL imploded a month later, and the other three have substantially trailed the S & P. The latest I heard was that he was driving a van transporting crewmembers and working night security at a hospital; that was a couple of years ago. I hope he is doing well.

I miss Petrocelli, he was a riot. He made an “Untergang” parody video of the Bogleheads that had me gasping for air.
Miss Cliff as well. He had a good sense of humor.
I recently contacted Erryl, Anil, Dr. Helen, and Deer Islander, and asked them to look in. They may not be interested anymore…
Pity oildog is long gone from the scene. He was a smart guy.

Yup, twas my portfolio, back then. Glad he tracked it, but I wasn't buy and hold, ever! In the mean time, we went through COVID, the end of the great bull market in bonds, in late May 2020, where 30 year treasuries reached their lowest yield ever. We also had the 2020 elections. And I was banned from M*!
Yup, Bruce, FD was close, but no cigar!

There was a lady (as I remember) who was very active in M* discussions in the very early days of the pandemic. She was very impressive on forecasting how the pandemic might develop and adjusting her portfolio accordingly. I do not think I see her anymore. Who was she and where is she now?

I believe you're thinking of "Cheryl Boca." Don't know where she is now. I actually copied and saved one of her posts about "triggers" based on the progression of the pandemic (not that I was ever able to act on them).

Anyone know what became of Oregon Duck from the M* forums? He offered good knowledge of taxes. Oregon Duck aka Bruce Miller published a book on investing for income. I paid $21 for the book and used some of his financial screens on my dividend portfolio. When I saw the results on one holding, APU, I realized their 8% div pay out was to good to be true and sold it. In 3 months the number of shares sold lost over $16,000 in value. His book was well worth it and he will send by email some of his Stock CF analysis work sheets. The last I heard he was still living up in the Pacific NW.
