Hi, new member Catdog here. Have been a lurker for a year or two. Also made limited posts on armchair and old morningstar forums. Favorite memories of old morningstar are Retired Limo Driver for his insight and great stories. Also really respect Yogi and Kathie L. While YogiBearBull seems to still be very active I don't see too much of Kathie L. She may have been put off by some of the abrasiveness. Bently attacking anyone involved with ATT seems to be the type of stuff to avoid and Big Bang has done a great job of that. Opened a brokerage account with Fidelity in 1994. Been with them since. Rolled my 401K into an IRA there in 2005 after 23 years at an investment casting factory. Been working for my wife ever since. She is a rental real estate wizard and we live mostly on rental income. Will be selling off last rental property soon because we are just too old (68). I am a dividend income/value investor normally, but am currently in CD's and money markets. Playing it safe right now but would like to shift back to index/etf's soon. Welcome, catdog . Not in defense of Bentley's communications approach, but his key message of avoiding AT&T stock proved out over time. It was a dud during a raging bull market. Wasn't Bentley the guy with "All aboard..." subject lines? Hope all is well with him.

I remember Limoman, he was quite the character. He was big on balanced funds for the long term and his reasoning was sound. He was some influence on me buying VWIAX and JABAX -- which I still have.
I think about Limoman ever now and then. Wonder what happened to him. I seem to remember that he had some health issues. I always enjoyed reading his stuff.

He was quite the raconteur on forums, and probably even more entertaining down at the VFW

He was quite the raconteur on forums, and probably even more entertaining down at the VFW Yes, he had some good stories. He was not the most literate person out there, and some of his writing was a bit tough to decipher, but interesting none-the-less.
RIP, Limo.

Limoman was one of my favorites also. I think his genius was buying the real estate outside Chicago. I recall him making a little cash when he started selling it off.

I honestly couldn't remember my SN at Mstar, but I know it wasn't BruceM.
So I just tried signing in there (been a few years) and it came up as "Bruzer," which I do remember. Yeah whatever happened to BruceM? He used to write books of sorts..

I remember BruceM was a Vector Group aficionado along with Cliff. Sure do miss Cliff, and wish he’d find us here.

Bruce is on (at times) on SA but with comments only. Last comment Dec 23, 2022.
Capecod would be a great addition. I hve lost my Fido board since I closed those accounts, but he is really valuable when discussing bond type CEFs.

There used by a guy (I think person was male) who used to write in third person at old M* forums and somehow he became Uranium Mining stock (mostly very small cap and most people would not have heard of these stocks) investor/trader. I forgot his name. Does anyone remember him? I think his screen name was from wizard of Oz characters something like Munchkin. Is he still around here or there at M*?

I remember exactly the chap you're talking about b/c his odd writing style struck me as annoying --- but never to the point I or anyone else on M* mentioned it. (There's a character on Boardwalk Empire with the same habit.) I feel like his name is just on the yonder side of my memory. Maybe it will come to me after I sleep on it. But no, haven't seen him around for years. .

I think he posted under "munchkin man" and "hombre munchkin". The M* posters I miss most for their humor are Cliff and Petrocelli. For sound investment feedback, I miss erryl, Anil and Dr. Helen. These three signed up on BB but have not been active.

Nice thread. It speaks well of people that many are so well remembered.

When it comes to pumping, I don't think anybody could beat 'silverking' and ADVDX. Although there was Taylor ... does anyone remember the "Seed Corn" thread? Indeed I do; had a number of interesting conversations with him. With his background, I always felt that he was having us on. He struck me as being far too intelligent to really buy into the arguments he raised. He was a MASTER of Xeno-like paradoxical arguments. He always had variables going to either zero or infinity. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he was having everyone on the whole time?!
I DO miss Cliff's humor, Petro's stories, and Limo's rambling soliloquies; we definitely had some characters on those old forums!

Has anyone heard from Deer Islander. He said he was going topost on a forum that was invitation only. I always thought that was the Fido forum, but he might have changed his name.

There was a poster that went by Aubergine (or something like that) who had access to some cool portfolio mimicing/back-testing tools. Did they make the migration?

As I remember, Cliff got a time out on M* for something he said and decided not to come back. I'm sure he is in California. He had just gotten married before that so he may have had better things to do. ElLobo got permanently banned. He is now living in Texas. Munchkin Man was a world class checker player at one time. He is also one of the main reasons the Bogleheads left M* to start their own board because of the lack of monitoring there at the time.

El Lobo is Chuck Wolfe on Facebook, where he posts quite prolifically. He would be glad to make contact with you all on Facebook. He doesn't care about inversting forums now.
