Just thought I'd share this, so you know how blessed you are to do business with Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, etc. Here are the fees associated with a typical mutual fund available at my bank: - Management fee 2.8% (annual)
- Depositary (custodial) fee 0.45% (annual)
- Purchase fee 1.12%
- Redemption fee 1.12%

The biggest difference is that you deal with a bank, and banks are notorious for screwing up their clients. In the US we have the option of discount brokerages that fight each other in order to eliminate them. Years ago VG charged 0.1% annually for the SP500, which is low anyway, and now it's only 0.03%. Welcome to capitalism, where many things work very well, but some don't. Let's discuss how much we are paying for healthcare.
