With remote working, a possibility arises to go really far to combine remote work and vacation for "working-vacations" or "workations". To spoil that, some companies like Alphabet/GOOGL are already developing pay differentials for remote workers - as the pay often includes geographical factors (so, similar jobs may have different pay in CA vs TN vs a foreign place). Anyway, a travel site in the UK has rated cities for workations by taking into account rents, food costs, internet access, fun factor, etc. Beware that some may be Covid-19 hotspots. US and UK cities are missing from top 10. www.cnbc.com/2021/08/29/here-are-the-worlds-top-spots-for-working-vacations.htmlThe World’s Top 10 ‘Workation’ Cities
1. Bangkok, Thailand 2. New Delhi, India 3. Lisbon, Portugal 4. Barcelona, Spain 5. Buenos Aires, Argentina (tie) 5. Budapest, Hungary (tie) 7. Mumbai, India 8. Istanbul, Turkey 9. Bucharest, Romania 10. Phuket, Thailand Source: Holidu.co.uk Full List www.holidu.co.uk/magazine/the-best-cities-for-a-workation

Hawaii doesn't make the list? Hm.
OK, OK. Must be a FOREIGN city? Very well --- Lyon or Nice, France
Would like to see the same list where vicious traffic gridlock, hellacious crowds or brute poverty are eliminators.
The list is also faulty because it includes some sprawling metropolises. I long ago convinced myself that smaller or medium size cities (50,000 to 500,000 pop, or so) with beautiful countrysides were the sweet spot for quality of life possibilities. Think: Asheville, Boise, or Regensburg, Germany.

richardsok, this is "research" from a travel site, so don't look at deep angles. But Holidu homepage has many other angles for travel destinations. I just thought that "workation" angle was cute, a sign of these times and it ranked the base of chang of this forum as #1. www.holidu.co.uk/
