jongaltiii , As largely an income investor I have no need to chase performances of past or present markets. Maybe this post isn’t relevant. But it did mention CEF’s. Part of our portfolio (40%) is set up to cover all our needs at our personal inflation rate out to age 90 or so. SS and our self created CEF income provides that certainty as much as we can project with a compounding calculator. So CEF’s work as superior steady monthly income producers to compliment SS. We consider buy and hold well managed CEF’s in the realm of a pension or annuity although yield may vary. Whether our HY income setup together with our mostly growth equities at this time outperform the thousands of investment schemes over the long term let alone an isolated time period I’ll never care enough to look into.
