If you use Active Trader Pro at Fidelity, could you please share your experience with this feature of Fidelity platform and what are the pros and cons you encountered using this vs their web based trading application that you may have used before using Active Trader Pro?
Thank you.

anitya , I have toyed with ATP in the past; however, it seems to me to be more of a trader platform. Both having a full time job and not being a trader has kept me from using ATP. I have enough funds at Fidelity that I qualify for streaming quotes using their Watch Lists available on the regular site. That has been a very helpful tool for me. In 6 years I plan to retire. At that time I may explore using ATP again when I have time to do so.

Fidelity ATP is very good for investors. For real traders it is kind of average. These days every one is trader! I am NOT talking about people who buy/sell/trade stocks or even simple one leg option for thousands of time a year. I am talking about multi leg options, and trading multi trade in a single ticket and profit loss calculator, stats, probability calculator etc. are features where ATP shines. Many of these features are available on Fidelity.com. Web is slow and graphics are very better with ATP.
Other products like direct access, futures and currencies etc which fidelity does NOT offer. Difference is very similar like going from Fidelity.com to Fidelity ATP big jump. Now if you use Fidelity ATP and now want to use some other brokerage (like direct access) think of swim or ibkr is quite intimidating. Fidelity ATP feels like very basic trading platform.
Fidelity is more of investor brokerage and investors can trade as well.
In beginning it was quite intimidating. It has steep leaning curve. Only way you can get better is by using it. Fidelity has lots of archive and on going live webinars (with live demo and q &A). I suggest you watch archive first and then use live webinars. It has tons of features like Level 2 quotes, trading from charts, trade armor, profit loss calculator etc. For options trading ATP is very good. Not sure if you use technical analysis then ATP is quite must to have.

Thanks.
I checked out ATP and was not drawn to it - may be I should uninstall it from my computer as I am no longer using it. Now, I am more active at other brokerages.
