So, M* is having its much touted annual MIC 2023 conference from April 25-27, 2023 in the McCormick Place, Chicago. And they couldn't get a Rep from Vanguard (and from Blackrock)? This is just a chit-chat between 2 M* staffers.

chang, I just visited Vanguard and it seems they have revamped their website recently. I am hoping you and others will share your experience (good and bad) about the new look and feel of the website. The little I used today, the new site appears to be a marked improvement over the previous one.

I don't love it or hate it, don't really feel much difference even now that it is a brokerage and not legacy account. I eventually find whatever I need, I don't trade only have MFs & MM. I trade on Wells Fargo and it is more familiar. I do like doing RMDs/QCDs on VG.

The little I used today, the new site appears to be a marked improvement over the previous one. Overall, I think it is fine. There are few things that I do not like. The default page is "Balances", which can't be changed. To see your individual accounts, you then you need to go to "Holdings" and then to click on "Expand all accounts". I would like that view as the default page. Also, I have 6 different accounts and they all seems to run together in the Expand all accounts view. Something needs to be done with the color sequence to create better separation between accounts.

yakers,Recently I did a RMD at VG. That made the second time in less than thirty days I had to make a call to get things straighten out ! The first one was caused by not being allowed to unlock settlement fund to make a trade.I'm passing it off as a few bugs in their new platform that needed to be addressed. My calls were taken within minutes & problems fixed.

I liked it better before. Too much white space but most websites are doing that now. They could have used the white space to give color borders between accounts. I go to the very bottom of each page to get to the old My Accounts section to get to where I want to go.

Is there any place on Vanguard where you can find the date of a buy via PC. Confirmation is easy to find, purchase date not so much. I'm looking at a T-bill purchase date , not settlement. T roi2020, yogibearbull, yakers, anitya, anovice, fritzo489, nobhead, Capital, hondo, hanks, fritzo489

This should bring up your accounts and just click the account. When you expand the account it shows the most recent transactions that show trade dates and settle dates. If you want to see older ones, just adjust the time frame at the top of the listing.

nobhead , Thanks, I tried that & it doesn't show the day the buy was entered by me. Only confirmation & settlement date.
Added : What I'm looking for is a email from Vanguard proclaiming " Notice of transaction submission" Maybe they don't do this for T-Bills ?

I never get a "Notice of transaction submission" for the T-bills. I usually enter mine over the weekend (don't know if that makes any difference). I get emails for "Notice of a brokerage order execution" about noon on Monday's which would be the trade date.

If you have not submitted a stock / ETF trade lately at Vanguard, give yourself more time to place and verify execution of the order.
After I submitted a trade today, the system automatically took me to the next screen showing the order but did not have any other options to either go back to my home / holdings page (or Dashboard) or check order status. However, there was a single action button "Exit" at the top right which took me to some unfamiliar page from there I chose Activity which gave me a button for order status. (Normally, you can get to "order status" button from three different places.) The order status said "executed" but it took a couple more minutes after that for the holdings page to update for the sale and decrease the number of shares held in the account. If you thought the order did not execute and place another sale, you will double up your sale. This is how I doubled up a sale at Vanguard three years ago and it seems they still have not fixed that problem (or may be not fixable in the Vanguard environment).
I am hoping the above is a glitch because I am not able to replicate it after the market close. It is also possible that their website is unstable from peak activity towards the market close time. Glitch or not, just give yourself more time to get things done at Vanguard.
Otherwise, I like the new look and layout.

anitya, I had a triple up a few years ago !!! Got on the phone to straighten my buy order out. I had purchased the same MF 3 times instead of the different funds. T-bills have been bought on the market rather than at action. First time was probably of my doing. The other 2 or 3 that I had question of what transpired has caused me to take a screen shot with my phone. Not a lover of their platform. Also would look at doing transactions during daylight hours rather than in the evening. Don't ask me why. I'm guessing they have a few bugs to work out.

fritzo489, "T-bills have been bought on the market rather than at action." I don't understand this. I have entered Auction orders at Fido, Schwab and Vanguard and they were all executed correctly, i.e. at Auctions. At all those sites, the Order Confirmation will show pending Auction orders, so one can check it after order entry. If an order executed as secondary purchase instead, I suspect some order entry issue. If Vanguard executed secondary market order for genuine Auction order, that may be illegal. Report those to FINRA and/or SEC, but they will demand details proof. There may also be a confusion about reopened Treasury Auctions and those are genuine - Treasury occasionally reopens existing Treasuries for new Auctions to add to them. For example, Treasury may reopen 26-wk T-Bill later for 13-wk T-Bill and the Treasury announcement would indicate that - original date, new auction date, maturity date.

yogibearbull, Thanks for your reply. As per your third paragraph, I had that happen at least once & VG explain what was going on. It seems to me that second to last purchase of T-bill was a hick-up on their part. Order was placed Sunday night for Auction Monday morning. Only purchase happen on a Tuesday ,filled through market purchase ! Since then I take a screen shot with phone camera. Maybe hi-light & copy might work ?

At any site, if your computer or website crashes before you hit the submit button, I would make sure to log back in and check the order status page. If this happens at night, check order status a second time next day morning before market opens (or closes for OEFs).
"Maybe hi-light & copy might work ?" No, I would stick with screen shots or print-pdf.
Generally, websites go through maintenance at night and are also unstable at peak activity. So, I would avoid trying to place orders at those times.
I find Auction order getting corrupted to secondary market order very troubling.
Cancelling OEF orders at Vanguard is not as easy as at other firms and may require rep assistance. Give yourself sufficient time before close.

I was in my Vanguard account wanting to send a secure message. In the message center, I could see Inbox and Sent Messages folder but I no longer see a create a New Message button. Did Vanguard eliminate this feature or is it a weekend bug?
[Edit: At the very bottom of the Message Center menu, there is an option for Upload Documents - I used that feature to send them a message.]
Also, I noticed that last week messages are now in the Deleted and Expired Messages folder and one of the messages in that folder is unread. That is a bit fast to delete / expire messages.

anitya, Vanguard has dropped the Messaging feature. But others have figured out a workaround (as you did) to click on Upload Documents. So, if VG request you to send some documents via Upload, you can include a message too. But people have figured out that you can send a message via this tool even if you have nothing to upload. Of course, reply may be hit or miss. VG says to call but that may have LONG wait/hold times. www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=383075www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=399788

yogibearbull ,
It appears that Vanguard allows certain customers the ability to "Send a message to Vanguard." I still have access to this feature (refer to my recent post).

roi2020 , I see the envelope icon too. But when I go there, the menu shows "Inbox" with lot of routine messages from Vanguard (maturing T-Bills, etc), folders for "Statements & Confirmation", "Deleted/Expired Messages, but NO "Compose" click. However, the trick to click on "Upload Documents" at the bottom trick works. It only takes a while to figure this out the first time. I am sure that people who signup for Vanguard robo PAS (hybrid or digital) are provided messaging capability as part of the VG PAS service. Edit/Add. BTW, my wife's smaller Vanguard IRA accounts don't even show that "Upload Documents" click in the Message Center. So, it is clearly for one way communications, from Vanguard to her.

Vanguard has different levels of services for account types - plain/no-name, Voyager, Voyager Select, Flagship. Asset requirements are different for trusts. So, that explains the various levels of Messaging support that posters have reported. Ours are 1 IRA (no Messaging support), 1 Trust + IRAs (Messaging support only through "Upload Document" trick). Considering that Vanguard phone service operates only M-F, 9am-5pm, it was a bad decision by Vanguard to drop/reduce Messaging support. I have had security account locks on a late-Friday and there is absolutely no one to contact or talk to at Vanguard (not even VG Security) until Monday 9am (I got in right away at 9:01am). Of course, they get VERY busy on Mondays and Fridays. investor.vanguard.com/client-benefits/voyagerinvestor.vanguard.com/client-benefits/flagship
