First time Fido has ever really let me down. Friday trades haven't settled yet, and I want to know my positions to plan additional orders today. (Also, you cannot place an order to sell a MF while a previous order has not settled.) On the phone now for 45 minutes on hold; just about to hang up. It's 2:25 AM local time in Boston ... how many people are really calling them now? I am not impressed right now.

All the brokerages I hold accounts with have gone down in "telephone service"... perhaps due to tax season? perhaps due to zero trading costs? Either way whether it is schwab, merrill or Fido at any time of day.... the wait times are obnoxiously long.

The Friday trades finally showed up around 5 a.m. EST on Monday. Highly abnormal, but everything seems back to normal now. It's rare for Fido's platform to experience a hiccup.

I’ve had terrible service from Fidelity in my short experience. Recently, I tried to link a bank account to Fidelity. Even after 7 business days it doesn’t show up. When I tried to call, I waited on hold forever. I said ####it and transferred the $$ to Vanguard with no problems. It was six figures. I guess not enough for them to be interested. I am impressed but in a negative way. Rant over. Carry on.

Fido does take several days to link bank account. When I asked why at the time, the Rep said that it is due to security and they manually test the linking. After several days, the link just shows up.
At many other institutions, linking is possible online with 2 test deposits that you enter in 2-3 days and it is done.
I do have account at Vanguard but my complaint there is phone service only on business days even when account security alerts are generated.

I am told by other Fido customers that Fido is not good about properly reporting ROC / non- div distribution in Form 1099. My taxable account at Fido is relatively new and so I did not have the occasion to experience this myself. Would like your feedback on this so I can decide whether to keep or move my Fido taxable account.
RM,
To avoid wasting more time, I would ask to be connected to the wire transfer department.

For my brokerage a/c at Fido and Schwab, first/early 1099 tend to have incorrect ROC info but that is corrected in the second/corrected 1099. Otherwise, I didn't find any issues with ROC - I verified them manually a few years ago, but now I assume those to be correct; I just glance over the summary in 1099 [IRS gets copy] and details in supplemental info [not sent to IRS].
Unfortunately, one has to wait until late February to see if corrected 1099 is issued - nobody sends a note saying that first 1099 was OK and corrected 1099 will not be issued.

Fido just delayed my final 1099 until March 5th. They say it's due to delayed reporting for Matthews funds.

I've been a Fidelity customer for about 35 years. I have no memory of ever having a problem with my 1099s.

chang, I thought a few months ago you posted somewhere a weblink to a Fidelity page that showed new account promotions (and weblinks) at various brokerages. I spent 40 minutes trying to dig it up but was not successful. If it was you or know what I am talking about, could you please share or send me a message? Thanks for your help. A
