richardsok , Your/My:EDF: EDF and EDI are on my current watch list. they have been a disaster but have moved up to "Neutral" (5star). Both are getting better but are still shown as "wait". Insider buy's are very important but we have to run those buy's against our individual analysis for current buying. The market is "churning" with sector favorability always changing (options market).... LAZR: Not currently on my watch list but will look at them this weekend and get back to you.... STRR: Will take a look at this one also. Not currently on my watch list but will look at them this weekend and get back to you.... --------- EDF: Both EDF and EDI moved up to 7star this past week. However, their report card numb3rs are currently "57" (require 75 minimum). EDF and EDI track just about the same but I have always liked EDI better. EDF, last year, has had "2" distribution cuts. What this indicates is that EDF is trying to improve their current NAV at the expense of not paying the previous distribution amounts. In this case, EDF looks better but it really isn't (IMHO). The 7star indicates a first buy signal but their overall "total analysis score" of 291 is a little lower than the 300 we always look for (better performers normally track >325). Insider buying at "6.00" may be a indication that both are going higher. With a >11% (EDF) current distribution and the current insider buying it may be something to consider (going forward in a very volatile negative market).... LAZR: Negative numb3rs. Shows "avoid" STRR: When you are playing with a "Penny stock" of $0.01 and $1.49 we have to be in the gambling mode. The 2mil shares purchased could be a come on (for penny stock players) as the current numb3rs don't come close to looking at it further. Another "avoid" IMHO.... Hope this helps a little.... Live Long and Prosper.... LAZR popped strong today, leaping 12%. Tsk. Tsk.

Little insider buying worth taking note of. However I see the CEO of OPK has begun buying again. He was a heavy and regular buyer a year or so ago. Now owns about 200million sh @ $3.00 or so.
One good-sized insider buy of EPD, which I took note of only b/c I own some shares.
Lastly, the CEO of LAZR bought another block on 2/2.

I will have to take a look at OPK, EPD and again at LAZR. Have to see if I can look under their hoods of secrecy for the hidden gems. Will let you know when I complete this.... Market has gotten very interesting (looking at my current analysis data). I will be taking some CapGain on five securities and increasing the share count on four of them tomorrow (Monday) pending Market's outlook. Appears, currently (with the volatile market), we could have another profitable year.... Live Long and Prosper....

richardsok, Your: OPK, EPD, and LAZR Interesting.... I tried to post this for you and had it deleted while in process [second try]. Looks like the information is not to be posted here. Zacks New Residential (NRZ) to Report Q4 Earnings: What to Expect? Zacks Equity Research Mon, February 7, 2022, 9:39 AM
New Residential Investment Corp. NRZ is scheduled to report fourth-quarter and 2021 results on Feb 8, before market open. The company’s fourth-quarter earnings and net interest income (NII) are likely to reflect growth from the year-ago reported figures.
The New York-based mortgage real estate investment trust (“mREIT”), primarily focused on residential real estate investments, posted core earnings of 44 cents per share in the last reported quarter, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 35 cents.
Over the preceding four quarters, the company met the Zacks Consensus Estimate on three occasions and surpassed in the other, the average surprise being 6.4%. The graph below depicts this surprise history:
Factors at Play
Mortgage originations, both purchase and refinancing, continued to normalize in the fourth quarter. The origination boom in 2020, propelled by the ultra-low rates, is also making comparison difficult for the quarter. Further, mortgage rates rose in the quarter under review. This resulted in a drastic fall in mortgage origination activities, with steadily rising rates hurting refinancing.
Despite the uninspiring backdrop, NRZ is likely to have reaped benefits from its efforts to grow and scale its mortgage platform. Specifically, the acquisition of Caliber is expected to have added $150 billion unpaid principal balance of mortgage servicing rights (MSRs).
The increase in mortgage rates in the December-end quarter is expected to have reduced prepayment speed. Hence, premium amortization on agency mortgage-backed securities is likely to have been lower in the fourth quarter. This is anticipated to have alleviated pressure on NII. Overall, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for fourth-quarter NII of $211.4 million suggests year-over-year growth of 86.4%.
Also, the decline in mortgage prepayments and refinancing, and an increase in mortgage rates are expected to have driven markups and valuations for MSRs in the fourth quarter. Further, due to an increase in the fair value of such MSRs, the company is expected to have recorded lower MSR amortization expenses. We expect spread widening to hurt the mREIT’s book value for the December-end quarter. New Residential’s servicing portfolio is expected to have been resilient, with favorable mark-to-market adjustment, driven by a continued decline in forbearance requests and pay downs. The company’s net servicing revenues are expected to be $245 million for the fourth quarter, suggesting a significant rise from the prior-year quarter’s reported figure.
Primary-secondary spreads remained stable in the quarter. Refinancing volumes continued to normalize, while the pace in new originations is expected to have been hindered by an uptick in mortgage rates. We expect a contraction in gain on sale margins for New Residential relative to the fourth quarter primarily due to stiff competition. Nonetheless, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the company’s fourth-quarter net gain on originated mortgage loans held for sale is pegged at $656 million, suggesting a 12.9% fall from the prior-year quarter’s reported figure. However, the company is likely to have seen an increase in non-operating expenses from the integration of Genesis and Caliber buyouts. Lastly, New Residential has been witnessing upward estimate revisions for its earnings prior to the fourth-quarter results, reflecting bullish analyst sentiment. Notably, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for fourth-quarter earnings has been revised marginally upward to 38 cents over the past month. Further, it indicates a year-over-year rise of 18.8%.
Key Developments in Q4
In December,New Residentialcompleted the previously announced acquisition of Genesis Capital LLC, a leading business purpose lender. With this, the company is leveraging Genesis’s ability to originate high-quality loans in the real estate industry, enabling New Residential to generate higher earnings. Management noted that the buyout is “value-additive for New Residential and will create synergies for our growing single-family rental platform.”
Earnings Whispers
Here is what our quantitative model predicts: New Residential has the right combination of the two key ingredients — a positive Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) or higher — for increasing the odds of an earnings beat this quarter.

Simply Wall St. How Many New Residential Investment Corp. (NYSE:NRZ) Shares Do Institutions Own? Simply Wall St Mon, February 7, 2022, 11:03 AM
The big shareholder groups in New Residential Investment Corp. (NYSE:NRZ) have power over the company. Large companies usually have institutions as shareholders, and we usually see insiders owning shares in smaller companies. Companies that have been privatized tend to have low insider ownership.
New Residential Investment is a pretty big company. It has a market capitalization of US$4.8b. Normally institutions would own a significant portion of a company this size. Taking a look at our data on the ownership groups (below), it seems that institutions are noticeable on the share registry. We can zoom in on the different ownership groups, to learn more about New Residential Investment.
What Does The Institutional Ownership Tell Us About New Residential Investment?
Institutional investors commonly compare their own returns to the returns of a commonly followed index. So they generally do consider buying larger companies that are included in the relevant benchmark index.
We can see that New Residential Investment does have institutional investors; and they hold a good portion of the company's stock. This can indicate that the company has a certain degree of credibility in the investment community. However, it is best to be wary of relying on the supposed validation that comes with institutional investors. They too, get it wrong sometimes. It is not uncommon to see a big share price drop if two large institutional investors try to sell out of a stock at the same time. So it is worth checking the past earnings trajectory of New Residential Investment, (below). Of course, keep in mind that there are other factors to consider, too.
We note that hedge funds don't have a meaningful investment in New Residential Investment. The Vanguard Group, Inc. is currently the company's largest shareholder with 8.9% of shares outstanding. With 6.1% and 3.6% of the shares outstanding respectively, BlackRock, Inc. and FMR LLC are the second and third largest shareholders.
Our studies suggest that the top 25 shareholders collectively control less than half of the company's shares, meaning that the company's shares are widely disseminated and there is no dominant shareholder.
While it makes sense to study institutional ownership data for a company, it also makes sense to study analyst sentiments to know which way the wind is blowing. There are a reasonable number of analysts covering the stock, so it might be useful to find out their aggregate view on the future.
Insider Ownership Of New Residential Investment
The definition of an insider can differ slightly between different countries, but members of the board of directors always count. Management ultimately answers to the board. However, it is not uncommon for managers to be executive board members, especially if they are a founder or the CEO.
Most consider insider ownership a positive because it can indicate the board is well aligned with other shareholders. However, on some occasions too much power is concentrated within this group.
Our information suggests that New Residential Investment Corp. insiders own under 1% of the company. It's a big company, so even a small proportional interest can create alignment between the board and shareholders. In this case insiders own US$20m worth of shares. It is good to see board members owning shares, but it might be worth checking if those insiders have been buying.
General Public Ownership
The general public, who are usually individual investors, hold a substantial 52% stake in New Residential Investment, suggesting it is a fairly popular stock. With this amount of ownership, retail investors can collectively play a role in decisions that affect shareholder returns, such as dividend policies and the appointment of directors. They can also exercise the power to vote on acquisitions or mergers that may not improve profitability.

X --
I had USA on my trade & watch list and have been in and out of it a couple of times. But I was seriously trying to simplify my candidates and to clear away close redundancies. So for broad equity funds I scrapped USA and kept only ADX, ARKF, SPLV, DTH, DVOL and SPHD. Even six broad equity funds to watch is really too much, but there it is. Might do without ADX. (Also culled USMV from future consideration.)
I have a couple of shares of HGLB; nothing enough to mention. Wish it was more. I suppose if I try to limit my watching, I'm going to miss an oppty now and then. May chase a couple more shares of HGLB anyway. Watching FPF and FTF to find a floor. Distribution percentages are becoming attractive a lot of places. But am trying to limit myself to a watchlist of 30 or so.
Am participating with the cryptos via RIGZ. Popped nicely today, as did LAZR -- persist in believing there may be more here than meets the eye. Have posted elsewhere on GLPpA with Sara in mind. We'd been talking a bit about preferreds.
Am reading there's a lot of protective hedging via long puts going on. But with fears of Omicron fading, might we see a market pop cum short squeeze? .
Harley brings us notice that coffee is climbing. Am focused on commodities. (Might also run to Walmart to hoard tomorrow. I like their store brand Decaf mixed 50/50 with their Creme Brulee.)
Don't let me get started.

richardsok, Your: 1... I had USA on my trade & watch list and have been in and out of it a couple of times. But I was seriously trying to simplify my candidates and to clear away close redundancies. 2... 3... Am participating with the cryptos via RIGZ. Popped nicely today, as did LAZR -- persist in believing there may be more here than meets the eye. Have posted elsewhere on GLPpA with Sara in mind. We'd been talking a bit about preferreds. 4... Am reading there's a lot of protective hedging via long puts going on. But with fears of Omicron fading, might we see a market pop cum short squeeze? . 5... Harley brings us notice that coffee is climbing. Am focused on commodities. (Might also run to Walmart to hoard tomorrow. I like their store brand (Decaf mixed 50/50 with their Creme Brulee.) ---------- 1... I am getting a little more bullish on the market as "far and panic" sets in on the inflation data this morning. Am of the belief that inflation will end the year around 4% but the next few months (Qtr) could be higher before it goes much lower. Fear brings us opportunity. The start of the 3rd Qtr should give us a better understanding of where we stand on the current inflation situation. I like USA because it follows the NasDaq and the S&P500 and believe it will go higher by the end of the year. We must remember that their RO (Rights Offering) was at 7.78 and their current distribution is 10.60% (COB Friday). Current analysis numb3rs remain good in both up/down markets. Currently has a 7star rating with a report card of 78 with a power rating of 87 (and a steady projection going forward of 75). The objective of this CEF is to seek "LONG TERM GROWTH" of capital and future income and the ability to pay dividends in the "future".... 2... HGLB is one of my favorites (Maximum Holdings) currently with their positive discount of +1.22 (need >+1.03). Currently 10star. Has very good protection (NAV wise against MktPrc) for "any" market correction going forward.... 3... I agree there is something going on with LAZR but if I bought it, it would be something out of my playground to understand and follow it (currently). As for GLPpA, I normally play the convertibles (when found undervalued). Lot of money to be made when their stock has a positive Qtr and the convertible becomes a play.... 4... Options and short players may be in for a ride going forward. If one understands them, and has been in them for "years", there might be money to be made. Otherwise, they may be in for Losses that they don't anticipate. CEF's VGI and ZTR were in options last year but they cancelled out of them (sold out) and many shareholders (like myself) decided they were getting out at the wrong time.... 5... I wish I knew more about commodities where a lot of the money is to be made. I would have to watch the financial news more and make a lot of changes on the computer that I really don't want to do at this point in time. Enjoy your coffee.... Live Long and Prosper....

Zacks Moody's (MCO) Q4 Earnings Miss Estimates, Revenues Up Y/Y Zacks Equity Research Thu, February 10, 2022, 10:22 AM
FSK +0.84%
Moody's MCO reported fourth-quarter 2021 adjusted earnings of $2.33 per share, which lagged the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.38. The bottom line, however, grew 22% from the year-ago quarter figure. A rise in operating expenses was a major headwind. However, results benefited from a decent bond issuance volume and strategic buyouts, which led to revenue growth. The company’s liquidity position was robust during the quarter. After taking into consideration certain non-recurring items, net income attributable to Moody's Corporation was $427 million or $2.28 per share, up from $314 million or $1.66 per share in the prior-year quarter. In 2021, adjusted earnings per share of $12.29 lagged the consensus estimate of $12.34 but were up 21% year over year. Net income (GAAP basis) was $2.21 billion or $11.78 per share, up from $1.78 billion or $9.39 per share in 2020.
Revenues Improve, Costs Up
Revenues in the quarter were $1.54 billion, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.50 billion. The top line grew 19% year over year. Foreign currency translation unfavorably impacted revenues by 1%. In 2021, revenues grew 16% to $6.22 billion. The top line also surpassed the consensus estimate of $6.18 billion Total expenses were $1.03 billion, up 21% from the prior-year quarter. The rise was mainly due to operational and transaction-related costs related to the recent acquisitions. Foreign currency translation positively impacted operating expenses by 1%. Adjusted operating income of $589 million was up 11%. Adjusted operating margin was 38.3%, down from 41.2% a year ago.
Solid Quarterly Segment Performance
Moody’s Investors Service revenues increased 19% year over year to $871 million. Foreign currency translation unfavorably impacted the segment’s revenues by 1%. Corporate finance revenues rose, given the increase in U.S. leveraged loans for both M&A transactions and higher refinancing activity. Financial institutions’ revenues grew as issuers took advantage of the low-interest rates and tight spreads. Structured finance revenues were up, mainly driven by a significant increase in new and refinanced collateralized loan obligation activity and commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities issuance. Public, project and infrastructure finance revenues fell from the year-ago level, given a reduction in U.S. public finance and EMEA sub-sovereign supply. Moody’s Analytics revenues grew 20% to $668 million. Foreign currency translation unfavorably impacted the segment’s revenues by 1%. The segment recorded growth in research, data and analytics revenues, as well as Enterprise Risk Solutions revenues.
Strong Balance Sheet
As of Dec 31, 2021, Moody’s had total cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments of $1.9 billion, down from $2.7 billion on Dec 31, 2020. The company had $7.4 billion of outstanding debt and $1.25 billion in additional borrowing capacity under the revolving credit facility.
Share Repurchase Update During the quarter, Moody's repurchased 0.3 million shares for $122 million.
2022 Guidance
The company expects adjusted earnings in the range of $12.40-$12.90 per share. On a GAAP basis, earnings are now projected within $11.50-$12.00 per share. Moody’s projects revenues to increase in the high-single-digit percent range. Expenses are projected to rise in the low-double-digit percent range.
Our Take
Moody’s remains well-positioned for growth on the back of a solid market position, strength in diverse operations and strategic acquisitions. However, steadily increasing operating expenses are likely to hurt its financials to some extent. Moody's Corporation Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
Currently, Moody’s carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Zacks FS KKR Capital (FSK) Q4 Earnings and Revenues Beat Estimates
Zacks Equity Research Mon, February 28, 2022, 7:25 PM In this article:
FSK +1.52%
FS KKR Capital (FSK) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.65 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.62 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.72 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.
This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 4.84%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this business development company would post earnings of $0.63 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.64, delivering a surprise of 1.59%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.
FS KKR Capital , which belongs to the Zacks Financial - SBIC & Commercial Industry industry, posted revenues of $364 million for the quarter ended December 2021, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 5.67%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $163 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters.
The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.
FS KKR Capital shares have added about 4.4% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's decline of -8%.
What's Next for FS KKR Capital?
While FS KKR Capital has outperformed the market so far this year, the question that comes to investors' minds is: what's next for the stock?
There are no easy answers to this key question, but one reliable measure that can help investors address this is the company's earnings outlook. Not only does this include current consensus earnings expectations for the coming quarter(s), but also how these expectations have changed lately.
Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. Investors can track such revisions by themselves or rely on a tried-and-tested rating tool like the Zacks Rank, which has an impressive track record of harnessing the power of earnings estimate revisions.
Ahead of this earnings release, the estimate revisions trend for FS KKR Capital: mixed. While the magnitude and direction of estimate revisions could change following the company's just-released earnings report, the current status translates into a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) for the stock.

Thank you, x.
I posted earlier that the paucity of recent insider buying at Pimco has been on my worry list. I'm a big PDO holder. One 20,000sh PDO inside buy on 1/6 doesn't end the fretting -- but it helps.

Normally, I, along with many others would think that PDO and PDI would be doing much better than staying in a lower declining trading range. With that said.... My current analysis scan indicates that they will (at some point in time going forward) trade higher if that means anything. The market remains volatile and trading very different than past markets (which could be part of the problem).... Live Long and Prosper....
